I know the forums are rife right now with trolls who pretty much use the same language as you but you can't stoop to their level. Don't worry about defending Bioware. The last thing they listen to is the random noise and fury of a heavily trolled internet forum. They listen to professional reviewers and focus groups, not us here.

A little angry but I agree with what he said...clearly the game isn't flawless but its worth the $60...saying it isn't is putting it in the category of cheap trash games and is just insulting

Also don't compare the sales figures to DA:O at this point... that game was released in November...this is March ...sales will pick up, considering this is such a good game ;D

For the most part I agree.. Though I take exception to the gear comment. RPGs, from a video game standpoint ARE about loot and stats... Sorry they are. Loot and stats are to RPGs as aim and reflexes are to shooters. You take these aspects out. People will take exception. It's just the way it is.

luckily though, in DA2 this isnt an issue. There is plenty of gear to min/max my character, and there is enough customization on the companions that I can live with not changing out their armor.

I can still add upgrades to the companion armor, and some of those upgrades add runes which allows for customized stats.. Thus why i can live without changing out the armor.

My only problem with it is that there is still a ton of armor I pick up in my travels and it just ends up being discarded. It would be nice to give those bonuses to my companions.

By insulting those with differing opinions?

So much for making pro-DA2 fanbase look good.

Though i wouldnt have been as blunt or rude with the title, I agree that this game is an improvement compared to DA:O. Though it has its cons, I am so far preferring it to Origins.

I agree with almost everything the OP said. What I don't agree with is the tactless flaming. I understand the intent, but do you really need to stoop to the level of the angry purists to get the point across? Take out the pointless namecalling and you have a solid argument.

Oh, and @the Bethesda comments, the majority of my time in both Oblivion and Fallout 3 was spent trekking for an hour to get to my next quest. Long commutes a game does not make, good sirs.

I literally just beat the game for the first time and I agree with the OP about how good this game is. His insults to people who were disappointed with the game aside, I agree with his points about RPG and strategy and how well DA2 implemented them both.

I stopped reading on the 9th sentence. People will always have their opinions, if they hate DA 2, cool. Some of them are only complaining because they care about the game just as much as we do. The others...Well, I'm not trying to create a duality here but the others... and lets leave it at that.

Usually, I would read a text not matter the length if it was interesting. However, this was overly aggressive from the start and not likely to be taken seriously.

At the end of the day DA 2 is simply an investment into a hobby or something similar. 3.00 k/d black ops 1.47 MW2...I'm still on chapter 1 DA 2 10:00hrs +

Altho i will not dispute with you the rest of the things since i haven't bought the game, but i believe that it can be safely said that this part of what you wrote is an absurd lie, games like TES IV will easily be longer than any amount of sidequest in the first act, same goes for almost any other Bethesda game. Bethesda is a ridiculosly good company and unless you were using a hyperbole(which is cyoool and i apologize beforehand if you did and i didnt understand)  that is the most ignorant comment ive seen today, and ive been reading this forum a lot lately.

I know im getting flamed by all the cry baby gamer emos out there for posting this. I am hoping people who hate all this ****ing about an amazing game will back me up.

I have no inkling of understanding about how anyone can trash this game. I haven't finished it yet but what I have played so far has restored my faith in the RPG genre.

The game is LONG. The amount of sidequests in the first act alone amounts to more than the whole of any game ever made by Bethesda.

The combat is fluid and fun. People are complaining about how theres not enough abilities and its too twitchy. Guess what tards? The real world is twitchy. In the real world people don't take turns swinging at each other standing in one spot because dice is rolling in the background. Continous Turn Based combat is old tech. Twitch combat in RPGs is the next step. CTB combat killed Turn Based Combat in the late 90s and now its run its course. Twitch is gonna kill CTB. Get used to it. The fact that DA:O used CTB was a little outdated to begin with. With games like Elder scrolls, Fallout 3  and Fable using twitch I was a little surprised Origins went the route they did. DA2 is following the trends of the future. If you don't like it, crawl into a hole and play some Baldur's Gate. The rest of the world is done living in 1999. DA:O might have been the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate but that dosen't mean DA2 has to bow down to its dated tech.

Secondly one of the big beefs i have had with RPGs lately is the dumbing down. Console gamers are killing RPGs, its true. Bethesda has been making the gamplay in their titles more and more stupid in exchange for graphics. You should applaude DA2 for fixing such trends. The gameplay is deep, the characters are deep dispite what you say, and thats a hell of a lot better thans what the other devs have been crapping out over the last 5 years since Oblivifail. The characters, while not as diverse as Orgins, are a lot deeper. You could figure out the personality Alistair Sten or Leliana in less than a minute. They are all cliche sterotypes. Alistair is the comic relief. Sten is the stoic warrior and Leliana is the girlly girl. But thats all they are. There was nothing deeper than that, you had them all figured out from square one. You have to really look at these new NPCs to figure them out. They don't wear their feelings and secrets on their shirt like Origins characters did. You have to think and get to know them. I know I know, thinking is hard but its really appeasing when you learn to do it.

The game is challenging. Very challenging. The fact that people are saying you can't use strategy blows my mind. How could anyone be so stupid? The game is 10 times the difficulty of Origins. You can't potion spam anymore for instance. Maybe thats you people's problem, your only strat was to cheese through encounters by spamming health pots and now you can't, so you say the tactical aspects are broke. The scope of the encounters really make you think. You can just blind rush into a room of hurlocks anymore and expect wynne to back you up. You gotta think, something I guess a lot of people lack the ability to do.

Now for gear. If you think RPGs are about stats and loot you've been playing too many MMOs. RPGs should never be about loot. The fact that you can't replace NPC armor is a step in the right direction. RPGs are about playing a character. Its about acting out a personality. Power gamers and Meta Gamers have lost touch with what their genre is all about. If they took random rolls, loot, and stats out of RPGs and left only the character development I would be a very happy man.

The fact of this whole rant is that this game is amazing. Thats not an opinion, its a fact. Despite some bugs I can see absolutely nothing an RPG fan can complain about unless they are a bunch of nostalgia blind idiots who can't advance past Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal.

Those of you out there who are looking at these forums for a reason to play or not to play dragon age 2. Don't listen to the opinions of these sightless fools. Play the game and love it because I know you will. This is the best thing to happen to RPGs since the 90s.

Go ahead and start the flame throwers. I know the ****** mob will have a hayday with this. I hope some of the real gamers out there will back me up and show these idiots what a great game they are missing.

Another pseudo intellectual rant from an angry 15 year old, posting from his mom's laptop. Not impressed. Not only is the whole post useless drivel, it also shows why anyone who owns a console should not have internet access.

I'm too lazy to type this up again but really I enjoyed DA 2 as much as Origins more so just because it was an aactual challenge unlike Origins. Here is why

1. class changes. This mages are now weak in melee omg good. Warriors now hit multiple targets automatically great. Rogues aren't as stiff and clunky great.

Mages were way too overpowered in Origins and as Arcane Warrior/Bloodspec or Spirit Healer really you could pretty much do nightmare without ever needing to pause. Now I use them for CC mostly so the rest of my group wont die...teamwork
Warrior tanks now actually have passive and activated abilites that help with threat management instead of eveything being a shield based attack. Two hand warriors can tank even on Nightmare just as well not as much damage mitigation but still much easier then before.
Rogues are really fun and the changes to Archery were really great. Varric is one of my favorite companions in DA2.
Only thing I really miss about Mages though is spell combo's but cross class combos are great though let's me build up teams instead of just one class that does everything.

2. Difficult. Pretty much that. Nightmare is actually a challenge. I spent 43 minutes on that damn Rockwraith and I loved it. That fight was better then anything Origins had to offer much harder then Flemeth, Archedemon or Broodmother was on Nightmare. I hate the fact that there is no Friendly Fire on Hard since I wanted to play on hard after my first playthrough. I'll be sticking to Nightmare but I must say. It really is satisfying the difficulty and the class changes just go hand in hand and really help to show the strengths and weaknesses of each class.

3. Graphics. Let's face it, Origins was not pretty. Some people say it wasn't ugly but it came out in 2009 I know it was announced back when Jade Empire was out but still it was just really ugly for something to come out during 2009. Other then the graphics, I love DX11, the aura's and annoying spell effects were removed good I hated that. I do miss see my weapons on fire though but I'd rather stick with the cool glow from Elemental Weapons then see circles of whatever color on the ground continously pulsing like in origins.

4. Kirkwall, that is what a city should be, It sucks we spend most of our time there and that a lot of area's are reused but hopefully Bioware has learned from that and here hoping that not only does Kirkwall set a new threshold for how big a city should be in Dragon Age but also in Mass Effect. I was annoyed at how small the Citadel was in ME2.

5. Conversation wheel, After years of a silent protaginist, Fallout 1,2, Baldurs Gate 1,2, Neverwinter Nights 1,2, Icewind Dale, Steamworks etc. I like having a voiced character. Where it ruins immersion is up to the indiviual so don't tell me it breaks immersion for everyone. With the graphics we can see emotion on our Hawke's face something we could not see in origins unless if it was our Origins character either opening their eyes REALLY BIG like or moving their eyebrows.

6. Buying from merchants. Much better now then having to initate a conversation. It started in Awakening just clicking on something or other then made it to ME2 and now to DA 2. It's fast it's simple I can be in and out in seconds not minutes.

7. Crafting. In Origins crafting wasn't so great imo. I pretty much used the console to add X amount of gold and just buy all the mats I need because how annoying it was to go through 20 area reloads to get a lot the stuff I need. And only one NPC in the whole game sold Deep Mushroom and if we missed it that's can't go back to him. Making gold is easier now which leads us to just Order runes, potions, grenades and poisons. One thing I do miss though is traps. I like traps. Setting up choke points with several traps and locking mobs in place was always fun for me.

8. Housing. Companions have their own homes. Not knocking Origins, I understand why they had a camp two wardens with a band of followers traveling Fereldan building up an army makes sense. Still I like the houses or where ever my companions stay. It shows me how the live.

I need something better to do than to read these threads while waiting for my copy of da2 to show up.

that said.
Honestly, if you dont like the game, post that you are not happy with it and just leave already.
dont defend your position, just uninstall it from your pc, take the game back(if you can) or take it and sell it.

and then just go and dont look back.

Dragon age 2 is the second game in the dragon age universe, but it is not a sequal to origins as if it was it would be named Dragon age : Origins II.

but hostile threads are no good, whether its done against or for the game. All said and done, you will end up wasting your own lifespan with the stress you cause yourself.

enjoy each game for what its worth, not becuase it has a sequal ro a prequal, ifi ts good then great.... but until then.
