And no I don't mean I miss being my warden I just missing being A warden, being of a true neutral standing with everyone to view every man as a ally first and a Mage ((Templar, Warrior, thief)) second. I miss being able to look at both templar and mage and go "You both are wrong and here why!" and " get over your own small problems and realize the bigger threat out there"

Actually being neutral that what killing me in DA2 even thou I can side with templar this game HEAVLY pushes you into mage from ether A your sister B case you are a mage and should be on there side.

I hate having to pick between the two case god honestly.. Just like my warden case frankly.. BOTH SIDES ARE WRONG nether one of them are right. Yes templar can be all ruling never trusting ass hole who would kill a mage sooner then spit on them. But on the same coin mages can be just as ****ed up if not kept in check.

Overall I just miss being that one guy.. Who problem this isn't.. Who here to fight real problems and not one of power but of true good.

I don't miss being a warden at all, I always felt cheated being forced into being a warden in DA:O. I thought Duncan was kind of a jerk who was undeservedly hero-worshipped by everyone. And I thought it was too tragic that my wardens had to basically sign their lives away. No children, no career choices, dead by age fifty. Heck of a retirement plan for the person who just saved the world from the Blight.

That said I definitely prefer stories where the evil is clearly defined. It's more satisfying to vanquish evil than to get involved in a bloody civil war where there are no heroes.

I kind of miss being one too, I really wanted to take a neutral stance between the templars and mages, it's too bad that can't ever happen.

I don't, because these are two different stories. I loved Origins for the adventure it gave me, the friends my Warden made and the one she fell in love with, but the sequel gives you more leeway to do as you will, and you take the consequences as they come.

the plot in DA2 is aiming to be more down to earth "real" problems that any society could face.  But the epic lets all band together to defeat the great evil has been done a lot.  I give bioware credit for going down a less travelled road.  But with that said, I do hope to be a new warden in DA3.  (they had nice fancy blue armor in 2)

DA2 really brings players into many conflicts, weither templars or mages.. all of them are bad and gone completely crazy. And so yes, i really miss being a Warden and that's why i'm happy to see Hawke's sister/ brother join Wardens. Happy for them but sad for my Hawke. TBH, i also think warden has better teammate and friends than what Hawke has. Just my opinion.

I disagree. Having bad guys and good guys is just... unrealistic? Having a story where people die, and where there are no good guys and bad guys often makes you feel worse, and uncertain of your choices and the morality-- but that's how it should be, when you're killing people. Its a richer feeling than saving the world, not happier, but ... more honest?

Moral choices shouldn't be easy, they shouldn't be boiled down to Molyneaux like good/evil choices. That's why this civil war scenario is great, because they are hard choices. Both side has monsters, both sides have innocents, and people who mean to do good. Maybe its not "satisfying" like someone patting you on the head, telling you that you did good, but its satisying because its a deeper feeling. It may have cost blood to get to the end, but at the end, you know it is over. Maybe it wasn't ideal, but when is life ideal?

I agree with Aris all the way. I didn't feel special at all. I helped the leader of the mages try to catch Jowan (the blood mage) and in the end they were unsuccessful and I ended up getting drafted for no reason. Then I was told over and over again how awesome Duncan was even though he acted like a tool, and then I found out that thanks to my special membership that was forced on me, I only had 10 years left to live. Also headaches and nightmares. How dare I try to catch a blood mage.

Same goes for my human noble. My parents, nephew, and best pal all die and Duncan blackmails my dad into signing me over while he bleeds out.

I do not miss it to be honest

and if you did play as a grey warden then we would have virtually the same story instead of the arch demon it would be someone like the architect etc

and if it was a grey warden most people would complain saying bioware have no imagination etc.

which they have do have a fantastic imagination and make the best games around

It's sort of like how I love being an apostate in DA2. Your character actually has purpose in the game if your an apostate. To be just a warrior, or a rogue, kind of seems like your imposing on the final debacle or you just got swept along for the ride.

Being the Warden did fulfill that criteria in DA:O.

Maybe it comes down to the kind of gamer I am... I need my Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout, I need the Jedi in Kotor, and I need Cereberus in ME2. I should visit a gamer shrink.

I like the greyness of DA2, but I don't miss being Grey Warden. I like seeing them around though, but playing one was bit.. Meh. Specially, if there's no blight around and as said previously, the sad fates are never my cup of tea. Or well they're at sometimes, but I never like when it's certain.

I agree it definatley feels like you are being pushed to side with the mages through out the entire game i prefer to have a clear understanding of who the enemy is rather than being forced to choose sides.

With all the darkspawn blood dripping from my face after battles, I'm sure I'll drink enough to turn Warden sooner or later. Give me the taint!

I liked the sense of purpose that came with being a Warden. Too often in DA2 I didn't really feel like there was a point to what I was doing.

It's nice to be able to be someone else, but I would love to go back to my old character.

(Spoilers ahead, obviously)

To be honest, this was my only personal complaint about the story in DA2 (and it's just that: personal preference). I wish there had been more darkspawn-related content, or that anything else of real significance from Origins carried over into the sequel. I'm sure some of the major plot points will come back up in future DLC and/or sequel(s), but DA2 felt dry of main plots from the first game.

Now, I understand part of why this is, and that Dragon Age 2 is telling a different story that is essential to Thedas. I just would have liked to see something from the Architect, Morrigan's child, Flemeth, etc. It seems like those are some pretty significant plot points to only be mentioned in passing here and there for now. In my game, I did come across a codex entry that was a letter from Avernus, which was a nice touch, but that seems like a story element that could lead to some serious revelations for the Grey Wardens.

I'm really just nitpicking for my own preferences, but I'm hoping that the coming DLC and inevitable DA3 addresses some of these. Maybe another full expansion or a new novel, but it seems like it'd be difficult to have a novel of any real significance set after Origins.

Rogue Hawk with his sis freed can be easily templar sided, and I remember that you can simply ****** on both and say ''Imma Champion of teh place go 2 Heil !''

You hate choosing? Great! That means the narrative has done it's job and made actual hard choices.

yeah, being a warden is a bit lame.
you can do everything you said you wanted to do, but not on an official level which makes things more interesting. i mean Wardens pretty much have diplomatic immunity which is lame

Hawke can't be a Warden but *****spoiler***** can. That gave those a characters a chance to take a level up in badass so that Hawke wasn't outshining them like a sun would a candle. Good decision on the writers' part I say.

I kind of got the impression that the game pushes you away from siding with the mages. Despite the family connections, what happens to Hawke's mother, as well as Anders' actions made siding with the templars a fairly compelling and justifiable decision. If their commander hadn't been so obviously bat-crap crazy, I probably would have gone with the templars.

 I agree!

*spoilers*

There is a scene at the end of Act 2 while you are hunting the Qunari leader and you bump into a group of Wardens fighting there way out of the city. They have awesome armor and are on a secret mission they cant tell you about.
I had a big smile on my face and could not stop thinking, " i want to go with them! Thats the game i want to play!"

DA2 makes me feel like a hoodlum. I felt epic and superior to anyone in DA:O.
..but I'm not complaining.

I am actually the opposite - the more time I spent playing DA2, the more appealing it has become. I like the idea of - There is no good or evil, it is all a matter of perspective. History will judge ones action but again, history is not very consistent because the verdict often changes with time.
