I'm sure this has been posted before but I had hoped I wouldn't have to scroll down the spoilers forums and see things I didn't want to see.

I've done all the quests and don't have enough gold to proceed with the deep roads. (I have about 38 gold after selling everyhting I can including potions.) I don't think I have been spending lavishly during the game at all and I explored every nook and cranny of every area.  I got the message at home base to go see Gavron which I did and I accepted his offer to finance me.  I go to Varrics brother and he tells me to return with Varric .  I return with Varric and they exchange a few barbs and I still get the speech that I don't have enough gold.  I tried running around at night in some locations to try and spawn mobs to fight but none show up.

Am I screwed?

(I posted this message already and the damn forums ate it.)  :bandit:

Do the infinite gold glitch. Take a stackable item that you have multiples of and put it in your junk. Go to a merchant and sell them all. back out to the Buy/Sell screen and go into buy. Buy them all except for one back out of the merchants junk. Return to the buy/sell screen and go back into sell junk. Tap y a y barely before a and it glitch's selling the items twice and duplicating them in the merchants junk pile. Do this repeatedly without backing out of the buy sell screen.

Or if you want to not exploit, a side quest should pop where a loadn shark type guy will loan you the money for a mere 100% interest. Haven't tried it so I do no know long range consequences.

First play through I had like 71g this on I hade 96 (new more locations) I have yet to buy a potion cause the drops are enough, but than I did casual on first and have it on normal now (this is a warroir play through) so since you need like 60 you must be spending. I do miss the craft system for postion cause I know my mage play through I'm going be neededing the potions I'm sure.

As for weapons and armors the drops I been getting have been good enough for me. Though this warroir playthrough he got to use the Dragon Armor so that helped a bit.

Is there a quest called 'Friends in Low places' in your quest log? What does it say?

As the nug wrangler would say. "Huzzah, I'm back in the game." I had to go back to a previous save and replay my last quest and go back to the dwarf that offers to invest. I brought Varric with me this time before hand and the quest updated and I was able to proceed. For whatever reason that part was glitched for me previously as I took the same convo path and it just did not update my quest log.

I didn't have a problem. Concerned I would, I bought nothing early on - pretty quick, I had the 50g. By the time I went into the Deep Roads, I had about 95g or so.

You sure you did all the sidequests? Only other option I can think is, you spent too much.

I did all the sidequests I could find and I was pretty thorough.  The problem obviously was my spending.  I bought some potions early on but not a lot I did buy some weapons for aveline.  I simply didn't get the 'urgency' of making sure you have 50 gold very very early  on and then go to varrics brother.  I had no way of knowing that he would say 'go ahead and finish up other quests'.  I was afraid that if i went to him 1st i might get poofed out of there.

I waited to go to him and had something like 60 - 70 gold simply by selling anything my warrior could not use except for a staff or two for my mages. I didn't have to take the loan so I have no idea what happens there.

Don't worry about your spending. That dwarf will always come to save the day by paying your investment. You'll loose out on an achievement, but get to spend 50 more gold on tomes and such. As far as I can tell, after playing through multiple times, especially since I already have the achievement, there's absolutely no downside and only upsides to not being able to "afford" investing and getting the dwarf to do it for you.

I mean, not only do you get 50 more gold to spend on stuff in that first ACT, but you get extra XP later down the line as well.
