It never ceases to amaze me that the signifficant portion of the human populace is incapable of understanding what they read, if they can read at all.

To spell it out once more:

The game tries to depict love scenes in a very akward manner by putting thick woolen undies on characters which make them look disproportionate to boot. Either do it properly by things such as fading view into blacks, or by using camera angles to hide sensitive areas. Or, don't do it at all.

That's the point the few people in this thread are trying to say. The mock-up of those scenes make them so much more unnatural and unbelievable while DA:O is a game that tries to hard to create an immersive, believable world with natural characters that come across believable and immersive. That is a huge contradiction there.

Just to say something else, the first time I saw my party nearly naked was during the final part of the Urn of Ashes quest where they had to go naked to get past a certain area. Mind you, there was nothing sexual about that scene. But low and behold. I saw those big woolen low-detail granny undies on them and I spontaneously burst out in laughter, completely destroying the immersion of the quest. I mean, come on now. My character's croch looked like he gobbled down a whole flask of friggin' Viagra in one go, so disproportionate the waist area of the characters were modelled.

Get the point?

ZOMG!!!! Unnatural sex seances in a video game OMG!@!@!@! i can't believe this thread has really gotten this big. what a waste of time.

PEOPLE GO OUT IN THE REAL WORLD AND GET A GIRL FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!

^This. Underwear don't 'break' your precious Role-Playing, it doesn't hurt anything. Stop b*tching about it. The only reason to REMOVE the underwear is sheer perversion. If you're that desperate I'm sure there's thousands of CG Porn or even real porn for you. I'm a bit biased here since I find all forms of pornography disgusting and offensive but I can honestly say in this situation that there is no need for this. There's enough sexual content to keep the game realistic, don't add any unneccesary so called 'improvements'.

By the way, stop the hypocrisy. Calling people 'children' just because you want more nudity only makes YOU look more childish.

Nobody gives a F'k about what you have to say, because you're a christian.

Wow thats ****ed up. and reported. Religion has nothing to do with me calling you a freaking waste of life because you want video games to have sex with you. My relation ship with my wife is great 15 years married. No i am no a chiled but you people who want more nude seacne are pathetic.

The problem is there is a bit too much overt and unnesceary sexual content, yet the one area they should have done things right and a fairly big part in the story in my eyes, the climax of your charatcers love and affection for whoever get's done in a lame and cheesy way. I'd easily trade off all the other sexual stuff, implied and physical, for a Mass Effect type scene or even a blackout scene. But this huge doublestandard is what kind of bugs me, you have all this yet the one time you should do something you cave into political pressure. Do something right or don't do it at all, I don't expect nor am I asking for a fix as there are far more crucial things that need some love first, but that doesn't mean it's not something we can't discuss nor disagree with the visual representation used.

Hey, Spawn305, Crawling_Chaos, how about you both take your hate for each other and get a room, so you can compare how in private just how not-pathetic and not-childish you are? I'm really not interested in your pissing contest, and this thread is not for the kind of anti-religious, foul-mouthed, juvenile oneupsmanship you two are currently engaged in.

Cut it out and grow up, both of you!

Most boring logical fallacy in this thread = false dichotomy, Please give it a rest. The choice is not between bad/censored love scenes (current version) and pornography. If you can't tell the difference between pornography and a love scene which is well-produced, uncensored, tastefully done, or in keeping with the maturity level of the rest of the game (and any one would be an improvement) then this forum is no place to share your problems.

I believe it had far more to do with you typing gibberish and insulting and making ignorant claims and baseless assumptions about others who you know nothing about rather then simply holding a differnet opinion. And yes, Crawling was just as bad as you as neither of you contributed anything even semi-intellegent to this dicusiion.

My guess is that they probably included the underwear in these scenes because of the public stink there was over Mass Effect. Personally, I say don't buy the game, or at least don't butter up to a character and ask them into your tent if PG-13 sex scenes aren't your thing. The scenes aren't even really that explicit anyhow.

Quick question for Stanely.

You said: "How about we want to appeal to as many people as possible, and having explicit sex and/or nudity would be counter-productive?"

Looking at the case of my game, I see a big M on it, M for mature, which means 18+. Now, I'm not trying to be disrespectful or start trouble, but aren't you already alienating a large portion of your customer base just by having "M" as a rating? Why not push the bar a bit further since the game is already labeled as an adult dark fantasy rpg? Curious is all.

Where do you draw the line when "pushing the bar a bit further"? It's not like we drew a graph and calculated mateiculously just what percentage of our player base we would alienate with which feature. :P It's a matter of the project managers looking at  everything and saying "okay, we're drawing the line here." These decisions are made with consideration for not only the work we are currently doing, but with what our own developers are comfortable with, what our leaders and the leaders at EA will accept, and, believe it or not, how other countries and regions might take it.

You, the player base, may not be aware of it, but when developing a product for a global market, we have to make sure that the game will not be offensive or break the laws of other regions. Some regions may not allow any depiction of violence against children, for example, or may not allow realistic blood and gore, or may have problems with smoking being shown, or whatever. Names have to be changed because they might mean something offensive in a different language. GUI and text have to be able to support different sized words and sentences, not to mention special characters. And all of this is done so that, when localizing the game for other regions, we aren't completely re-making the game.

Now, look at your own situation. You are okay with us pushing the envelope a bit and showing explicit nudity, some bare breasts, maybe even full frontal. Maybe someone else is okay with full frontal nudity on both male and female characters, maybe some want to see explicit sex, and maybe some aren't too comfortable with any of that. So given the tolerances of you, the comfortable one, and Joe Gamer, the uncomfortable one, who do we build the game for?

Stephen King writes horror novels, and I don't think he has any explicit sex in his books. Romance novels, while containing explicit sex, couches it all in euphemistic language. Films and television prefer to emphasize sideboob and tease the nudity, rather than displaying it outright, due to audience tolerance and various broadcasting regulations. Why do those producers choose to do all of that, when they all arguably develop material for a mature, adult audience? At some point, they settled on a limit for what they're willing to portray, whether it's due to artistic license, what the audience will bear, what is marketable, or, what the audience expects from that type of product.

Videogames don't usually contain explicit nudity and sex. That's just the way the industry is right now. And we make videogames. We push the limits on mature storytelling and concepts and dialogue, and that's where we're comfortable right now, I suppose. Explicit sex and nudity in games will have to wait. Yes, some players are totally okay with it, but as we've seen in this very thread, not all players are even remotely mature enough to handle even this much sex and nudity yet. ;)

you on the other hand only know how to get romantic with your right and left hand. Go otu side try to get a girl friend and i bet you will stop looking to video games to fill your void.

I bet your the creeper on vent, that when a girl pops on you ask for pics of her nude body and are just a complete scuz ball.

I don't even think underwear itself is an issue. It's how it's been modeled, it has all the signs of a rush job of last-minute censoring. Like I said in a couple posts back, when I saw my character near naked during the final stage of the Urn of Ashes quest I literally burst out in laughter. One second I was all immersed in running the gauntlet, being in the holiest of holy places, a sense of humbleness, threading towards the urn.. the next second I was laughing my arse off at my goofy character. That underwear he wore seemed to house a a snake the size of a full grown Boa Constrictor all rolled up in a bag; heck I'm sure it would even make black males jealous! (Stereotypical joke) His hips were very disproportionate as were those of the female characters.

Which is not an "excuse" however.

I mean... this game features prostitutes (relatively common in rpgs), rape (rather uncommon), child killings (and more than once, usually an absolute no-go), homosexuality (rare and definitely provocative to a certain type of audience) and so on but shies away from a bit of nude skin? This is so... hypocritical. And unnecessary, given all the rest.

While that is an understandable position, why the decision to change morrigan's bra? Why not have her wearing the same bra 'naked' as she does wearing her signature robes?

Its not like the scene would be any more shocking (or any less funny retarded).
