I think the point of this is many feel that there was false advertising. (although some of the posts are a little scary, if you want to see genitals that badly get penthouse or something)
My feeling on the subject is that DA:O does not have a revolutionary gaming style. It takes a fairly standard gaming style and promises to do it better. They do this by making it voilent, edgy, and visually spectacular. The scenes were none of these. They can't claim "tasteful" they left the missionary position.
*The point is: They held up gold in the trailers, and handed out crap in the game.
On the other hand, it's a very minor point. For whatever reason (ratings, or most likely production time.) 30 sec of a 50+ hr experience was fudged. It's still a spectacular game, with excellently writen romance options. If this issue ruins your gaming experience, you need a new hobby.
I agree with you in a sense.
This particular aspect does not make or break the game in anyway.
However, some do feel that it does make or break the romantic pursuit in the game. Some people feel the romance is an important aspect of the game. I am certain they all have different reasons for that and those reason are not a point of contention nor should that really matter.
The point of the discussion is that some, perhaps not the original poster, see merits in doing the lustful scenes in another way even if it does not contain nudity.
I think silhouettes would have been more provactive and engimatic than what was presented in the game. If they had to leave the presentation the same way, I'd say the nudity adds more than it detracts.
In the way the game presents it the carnal actions are the culmination of the romantic pursuit and being the climax, I think it could have been handled in a way that leant meaning to the romantic interaction coming prior. Whether it required nudity or not.
I, however, will never recant my support of nudity when it isn't gratuitous.
