It was pretty much a "not an ending" kind of an ending. Like Knights of the Old Repulic II. Doesn't keep me from loving either game, but yeah, it's rather worse than a bad ending.

Assassin's Creed had probably the biggest cliffhanger of any game in history, but AC2 had another one of those nothing endings like this and KOTOR 2. IMO, AC1's ending was a lot better, because it was an intentional, well-formed cliffhanger, not just a sequel setup/deadline rush like KOTOR 2, AC2, and, yes, DA2.
