It should matter, actually. While BioWare is a company, it's a company that's part of a society. There's nothing inherently wrong with not including any homosexual content--but there is something inherently wrong with including the option to get rid of what has already been implemented. Such a toggle only exists to cater to the bigots and homophobes.

And such people shouldn't be catered to. If you choose not to cater to homosexuals, that's fine. But it's a different thing entirely to include something that eradicates any mention or indication of a minority existing, because it makes those people uncomfortable with that minority's existence cringe.

I don't see any sense behind your argument. The fact that YOU think something is bigotry does not make it so. You simply want to force your viewpoint (political correctness or else) on others. If you don't like the option don't check it.

Such people shouldn't be catered to? Why should you be catered to?

That fact that you think something isn't bigotry doesn't make it any less bigotry.

What I did there. Do you see it?

As for being catered to: heterosexuals have the option to engage in heterosexual relationships. They also have the option to not engage in gay relationships. How are they not being catered to?

I don't have to be, actually. If I were, installing the game would put free money in my bank account.

But, as I already said, it's harmless to not include anything. Lack of homosexual content in DAII would have been disappointing for those who wanted it, but it would say nothing outside BioWare chose not to allot resources to that area. Removing the option is different--for reasons already stated.

Having a gay guy hit on you is not forcing his political viewpoint upon you, anymore than Hawke's mom and dad being married is forcing a hetero viewpoint on gays. It simply exists because people with different sexualities than yours do.

There was no way I could type that and not sound immature.

Well why should your mom!!! be catered to? Oh snap.

My point is Bioware is respecting the opinion of a segment of homosexuals, so why shouldn't they respect my opinion and give me an option to say no from the start?

Then DON'T flirt with men. And let's say they flirt with you first. Big deal, say no and move on with your life. What's so hard about that?

If someone doesn't like gay people, that makes them homophobic.

I mean.

That's the definition.

Are you arguing that people that don't like gays don't actually not like them?

Sorry I have to corect this: homophobic.refers to the fear of homosexual activty not that a person hates homosexuals. Its just misconstrude to mean hate.

No one is "forcing" anything on anyone.  See the heart? - Don't click  that option.

Don't like the option of the heart?

Um... don't buy the game.

It's that simple.

Make love people not war, you too are arguing like an old married couple. Emphisis on the make love part!!!:D

A phobia involves an irrational fear of something. Finding something objectionable is not an irrational fear, especially when it is natural for a heterosexual to be rather disgusted by certain things.

apparantly some people rather have a blindfold and go "LALALA GAYS DONT EXIST IN MY WORLD LALALA"

when in real life, most people that have matured, when confronted with said disagreeable issue, would just tough up and deal with it.

'fear' is relative. As is 'irrational'.
But homophobia isn't a phobia per se.
"Homophobia is a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, and in some cases transgender and intersex people and behaviour."

No. It means hate. To fear or dislike them, for no other reason than their sexuality.

It's pretty clear that based on Bioware's assumedly sanctioned response from Gaider: they think you are an idiot for thinking there is somehow something wrong with homosexuality and wanting the option to "say no (to gay) from the start", and you can either buy their games or not. And I applaud that.

Do you have something to contribute? Or do you just fail to understand the definition of phobia?

Hell I'm not even mature and I know when to say "no thanks" tis not a hard concept.

It's not like Anders/Fenris romances are traps like that damn Asari consort. :pinched:

Because that isn't what the toggle would be. It's removing the presence of alternate sexualities from the game.

For it to be saying 'no' from the start, it would have to be something like Hawke saying a scripted 'no' instead of choosing it...and...really...how is that any different than you selecting it yourself?

I parodied mindless prejudice a number of pages ago.  And I pointed out that your mindless etymology is linguistically spurious.  :wizard:

It would complicate things even further by making it so that people such as me who think an option like that shouldn't be included aren't being catered to, so we complain. Then it's a big revolving door of complaining and stupid, just leave it as it is.

That is it's litteral deffinition yes but as fear breeds hate, homophobic would still be correct.

I wasnt aware a word only had one static meaning.
