Eh, I don't mind it much, prefer the girl on girl personally, every straight guy likes that.

Indeed, and there are two of them. And still some have gall to claim BioWare didn't cater to straight male gamer :P

An option in a GAME promotes intolerance? Really?

Really how is that absurd statement any different from the people like Jack Thompson going on about how these games cause violence IRL?

I love it when people say that "YOU'RE IMPOSING YOUR CULTURAL VALUES ON ME! NOW TAKE AWAY SOMETHING THAT DISAGREES WITH MY CULTURAL VALUES RIGHT NOW!". It's on so many levels of wrong it goes from being stupid to hilarious.

So of course, if we have an option to turn off "homosexual" content - we'll need an option for gays to turn off the "het" content.

Fair is fair.

Personally I'd much rather them spending resources and time in graphics/storyline and general development, than pandering to the few individuals who aren't secure in their sexuality. It's a freaking GAME for chrissakes. Your sack is safely tucked between your legs - no one is going to grope you.

Seriously - get over it and learn to not select the options that you don't like.

That is a FAR easier thing than it is for the devs to accommodate your immature insecurities.

It's true, I want everyone in the world to be Bi. It's why I paid David Gaider over 9000 thousand dollars to impose my seckualities on the world.

Next they should give us the option to turn off Black people, sounds silly right?

Why would Bioware create an option that allows people to ignore a group of people?

I agree. I find the homosexual content in DAO and DA2 offensive, and will simply not buy any more BIOWARE games with gay or lesbian romances included witihin it (yes, even ME3). I've had enough of this company's surrender to political correctness, and the attempt of their writers and developers to impose their cultural values upon others (and eloquently rubber-stamping those who would disagree with them as homophobic).

I don't think you're homophobic, just pretty intolerant. There are gay people in the world, and many play games. Should they not be represented too? Besides, you can just choose dialogues that are not romantic for same genders and there'll be minimal issues.

I believe that Hannahkay was trying to be sarcastic, especially when she says things like "impose cultural values".  I also suspect the OP of trolling, but I will feed the proverbial troll out of boredom. Anyway, I think it will be funny if Westboro Baptists protest this game for it's homsexual content, and not it's violence. Does anyone remember the Hot Coffee controversey with GTA: San Andreas?

I don't get a sense of any sarcasm at all in that mate.

Adding a "gay slider" option, while admittedly pleasant for me if it meant that I could have no men hitting on me either, would really be a waste of resources. If I can withstand Femshep going into nymphomaniac cougar mode when speaking with Jacob, you can stand taking a tiny rivalry hit.

This crusade wont ever stop?

Thanks to this forum i am back to be totally annoyed by gaypride and people being intollerant of other peoples sexual preferance.

And i still don't see how an option setting to turn off Homosexual content would be harmful or offensive. They could have their homosexual content in game and those who do not want to be bothered can turn it off without it ever coming up.

(I seriously wonder why noone bothered to make such a mod already)

It would fix the whole problem for everyone and i wouldn't need to be annoyed by the zealots of both camps.

See that heart symbol?Stay away from it.If you cant figure it out then this game isnt for you. There will be no option to take it off since its part of humanity and has been for millenia(that means thousands of years).A mod...sure.Go for it.

I wonder if the same people that want this also turn on a button to remove all homosexual content from real life as well.

I think an on/off switch would probably be seen as being offensive because, as it is a preference, they could ask for the same thing vice versa. They could ask for a hetero-content on/off switch.

Having a party member make a pass at you because he/she flies that way is something that can happen in real life just as much as it can in a video game. You think people will automatically know your preference just by looking at you? And nothing is forced in Dragon Age 2, you don't have to "experience" any of the content other than party members making initial passes at you if you are able to comprehend the fact that a heart icon is equivalent to flirting.

We don't deserve an option to disable such content? In that case you don't deserve gay LIs. You insist on having a choice of gay LIs yet straight players don't deserve a choice to opt out of such content?

They wasted all of that effort to add gay LIs, yet they shouldn't waste the effort for a "no" option. Face it, you're insisting Bioware flash this in everybody's face.

No,  you don't "deserve" anything, and why you feel entitled to such is - bemusing.

Gays, lesbians, bisexuals - and (gasp) women play games - not just het male gamers.

Get used to the idea of devs being more inclusive. Especially with RPGS which are meant to mimic real life. You want a het male testosterone fest?

Stick with Gears of War.

Problem solved.

We who're wholly gay have a similar lack of wholly gay LIs. Everyone has to make compromises.

It would be nice if homosexual dialogs could be turned off in game settings, just like some games allow disabling blood.

Hey, so I was going to avoid this pool of morons getting trolled or trolling. But i'll have to step in here and ask you what the problem with Gears of War is? Are you implying that any heterosexual male gamers who played GoW are close minded bigots?

Generalization is a hell of a thing, as is hypocrisy.

I could be just as immature and say I want Bioware to waste resources in letting me turn off Het content, because I don't like the thought of my female PC going with a dude, the thought of it, the idea of it, makes me uncomfortable.

But I don't complain, because hey! I don't have to go with the dude, and oh my! I can even turn him down! Imagine that.

:bandit:

As a side note: I don't play Gears of War, but I do play CoD - as a whole, yes, the people on there tend to be ****s. Same with my other female friend who plays Halo. There are a lot of cool people on these types of games, but more often than not they're complete dicks.

You want an option to disable optional content...and if this doesn't happen, other people don't deserve to have the optional content you want the option to disable available to them.  Hmmm....

Hypocritical bull****e at its best in this thread. You know what gets my proverbial goat. That homosexuals complain and complain that their rights are being overlooked but when a heterosexual expresses distaste in such an aspect we have no right to do so because it is intolerant. Frankly I say the least they could do is make character's sexuality based on realism. Not everyone you know is gay in real life right, nor are all the people you know predominantly straight. They should go back to DA:O system where some are gay some are straight and some are b. You know realism.

To all gay people, if you want people to take your rights and please seriously, I doubt you will accomplish much by assaulting the heterosexual preference of someone. Everyone one has a preference deal with it, and it is very immature to say someone is insecure simply because they do not particularly like a certain sexuality or it does not appeal to them.

Maker's breath...

Where any of the romances (straight or gay) content that you HAD to experience? No, they're optional. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SAY NO TO IT!!!

And of course, it was such a huge effort to add the homosexual content. They probably spent months just on that... <_<
