I am stuck on Year 7 in the game. Well not stuck but I want to know how Merrills story ends. In Year 4 I kept the ITEM she needed for the MIRROR away from her seeing as it was a bad thing to do. But now years later she still wants to fix the darn thing. And its a quest. When I try to do the quest the only option is to go to the top of the mountian and fight the Pride Demon while her Clan Leader dies. I dont have a option now to tell her "NO IM NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS". This is where you come in. Is there anyway around to tell her NO? Every option leads up to that mountian and I don't want the Clan Leader to die, I don't want Merrill to try and fix this Mirror and release the Demon.
I have a relationship with Merrill in the game. Her and my Hawke are in love. And the ending I want in the game is where Her and Hawke stay together. The ending I want from them at least. Can I still end up with her even if I do her quest? Is there any way around it where I can still be with her?
Also what are the ending for Merrill if youre in a relationship with her? What does the ending say if you don't do her quest, and are also in a relaionship with her? And what ending does it say about her if you do her quest while in a relationship with her?
This quest seems unavoidable.
I need help making a choice.

It seems there was a problem with Bioware last night and my threads wouldn't post so I kept making threads hoping to get through and it seems like they all just magically popped up! Sorry about that but can anyone help?

I gave her the tool - whatever it was, I forgot - and still had to go up the mountain and deal with the demon-keeper.

Well if you give it to her then you have to do it. But I didn't give it to her at all and I have that quest. Ruins my playthrough.

I gave her everything in my first playthrough and romanced her. Went up the mountain and every in the clan is dead. Seems like a pretty sad end.
But I got the romance achievement at the end. I sided with the mages, I'm not sure if you can side with the templars and still get the same romance result though.

So Edge youre saying that if I don't do the Mirror Quest for her and don't go to the mountian to kill the demon then I can't get an ending where Hawke and her stay together? Because I told her i'm not giving her the Relic then romanced her and asked her to move in. Then this popped up.

I kept the item from her. Then in act 3 I got a quest where she wanted to go talk to a demon in the cave, turns out the keeper had trapped the demon in herself and we had to kill her. Then her stupid clan turns against us and we slaughter them.
I think the clan dies one way or another regardless if you give her the item or not.
