If you are strong enough to fight the demons that spawn, then yeah, there aren't any repurcussions.

Destroy all tomes and you fight a boss fight later on, which is quite fun and has some decent loot.

Be careful though, no repurcussions in this game doesn't mean no repurcussions in the next.
