  If players repec without clearing old spells and abilities from the tactics screen, upon entering combat and switching to control of party NPC, the game executes spells within the PC's tactics screen even if the player is no longer trained in them.  This also permanently adds those spells and specializations to the players repertoire.  Respeccing again will add those surplus points to the pool, leaving you an extra specializtion point (I have 3 now at level 16), and extra ability points.
