  I cannot get the quest "Magistrate's Orders" b/c I did not side with mercenaries in prologue. So where do I get the gland from instead? Secondly, how does the quest "Bone Pit" trigger, cause I have not gotten it yet?

I didn't side with the merc's either and Magistrate's Orders appeared fine for me. What system are you on?

you need to finish the 'birthright' quest first then the 'magistrate's orders' will pop out. same with the 'bone pit' i think but you have to check your mail/messages for that.
