Since this is a fantasy game, I imagine there can be very effective forms of birth control in the form of potions and mages can use magic as well.
So Isabela and kids and Anders last name.

OK. I just saw this topic. And I'm sure the OP has moved on etc. And I'm not reading 7 pages.
But maybe Isabela is infertile. Because, this. http://dragonage.wik...tility_Talisman
(Edit: Note to self. Read the OP properly. The OP noted this talisman.)

Birth control is not a new invention of the 20th century. Effective contraception, as well as abortion, have been practiced even in the most primitive cultures. There are a number of plants and herbs that even today, are suggested by doctors that pregnant women avoid, as well as many in certain mixtures that lower fertility. In pre-industrial times, family sizes were large for 2 reasons: half your kids would unlikely survive into adulthood, so more kids meant at least some would survive. The other reason, of course, is because large families were desirable then, people actually wanted as many kids as they could have. More kids meant more hands around the household and farm to help out, as most labor was tedious and manual. A large family was also, in many cultures, a huge status symbol. More kids, the wealtheir and more prestigous you were. And since women seldom ever left the home and had fewer opportunities available to them, they were expected to have many children.
But any examination of ancient to modern societies shows that a number of sexually active people, especially prostitutes, had few, if any kids. because they had birth control methods as well as abortion. In Thedas, when you add magic to the equation, its even more reasonable to assume that Isabella, for the most part, has been using methods to avoid any "joyous event".

LOL!!
But really though....
Well, the thing is that Anders isn't his first name, either. It's a nickname (his family is from the Anderfels).
So providing you with his real name wouldn't be much help.
Ffffffffuuuuuu.....
Rampant speculation engines gooooooo.
Can't speculate, too busy thinking that maybe Anders never loved us because if he did, he'd have at least told us his real name at some point.
He has no real memory of his life before beyond vague images (ie his pillow). Another reason for him to hate the circle. It took away his identity

According to the short story, he has at least some memories. It seems that he doesn't like to share them, though.
