Because I see a lot of new players coming in, and questions on how to do some things, I thought I would try and start up a tips and tricks thread. Hopefully, this will be a good spot to post up any tips and tricks on modding and workarounds for the character generator and equipment and such.
Don't be shy, post some links, post some advice, and maybe just maybe we can create a one stop shop and no longer clutter the threads with the questions about the basics.
Now, I'll start with where to put the ever elusive chargenmorph file. Thought Process of course, came up with an awesome rendition of the chargenmorph that will add extra stuff to the character creator...which can be found here:
http://mod.gib.me/dr...genmorphcfg.zip
Unzip the file, grab the chargenmorph out of it, and go to your desktop. And follow this path:
My Documents>Bioware>Dragon Age 2>Packages>Core>Override
Drop the chargenmorph in the override folder, start the game, and you should have extra options in the character creation screen. Anytime any mod asks you to drop something in the override folder, this is where you will find it. Hope this helps someone.

Is this the same compilation from www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php or some additional ones? If the latter, are the two compatible?

I haven't opened up that chargen, but they are by two different people. One may contain some of the same features as the other. Best way to find out is to open both files for editing with notepad and look at what was added directly. If I get some time later on, I'll check it out myself.

Alright, I am adding a link to another post in dealing with erf files and gda files for you modders:
http://social.biowar...index/6422183/1
As well, if you want to make an erf file for your modding needs, a link to a program by Thought Process:
http://mod.gib.me/dr...fpack-rev21.zip
Just unzip the folder, and and click and drag the directory onto the ErfPack.

Good job Wyldsong.
If this isn't what you had in mind I'll remove it.
To add stats without adding levels.
You will need a Respec potion.
Once you have that, consume it, and before respecting open the console and type"zz_supercrit player"
This will give you 50 strength and dext.
Then simply add the other points back where you want them in for Abilities and so on.
I use this after my first play through so I can see which builds are better for my style of play without artificially leveling my toon. Adding XP will do the same but all the bad guys level up with you so you aren't really getting a good idea as to which abilities and stats are going to do the most good later.
It can be done at any point in any game but is better on a new game.

Re-ordering the hair color slider.
If you have a chargenmorphcfg.xml in your override folder from any mods, re-arrange the hair color resource names as follows:
<hair_colors>
<resource name="t3_har_wht" />
<resource name="t3_har_bln" />
<resource name="t3_har_dbl" />
<resource name="t3_har_org" />
<resource name="t3_har_red" />
<resource name="t3_har_lbr" />
<resource name="t3_har_rbr" />
<resource name="t3_har_dbr" />
<resource name="t3_har_blk" />
</hair_colors>
This puts hair colors and brow/stubble colors in the same sequence on the sliders. Makes it much easier to get matching hair and eyebrow colors on your character.
