There are some improvements. Graphically the game is superior, particularly facial animations. I like some of the enemy redesigns, the Qunari took a little getting used to, but ultimately I favor that redesign. The gameplay didn't suffer in depth nearly as much as I expected, the major problem is a lack of auto attack. However after hours of button mashing, I just sort of do it rote (when im not using the pause menu which I do most of the time anyways). Im enjoying the companions more than I thought I would, but not as much as DA:origins. The lack of an ability to customize companion wears is disapointing. I definetly wish I could experiment with different magic and rouge wears, with companions before replaying through the game.
The lack of variety in game spaces, is also a problem that im having issues with. Its one thing to recycle assets over and over. But atleast do it, so that the assets you recyle are building blocks, which you can rearrange. Throwing me in the exact same cave (particularly when that cave looks like it should be unique), takes me out of the experience.
I think one of the most disapointing things about the game, is the lack of forward momentum in the story.
Overall, the game is better than I expected prior to launch. But its still not as good as it should've been. Hopefully Bioware doesn't get into the habit of rushing sequels out the door.
Survey: do you think DA2 is an improvement?

PC.
It's not even funny. And if Bioware genuinely needs a poll to have that answered, then they certainly aren't the Bioware I once knew.

They improved a lot but made some things worse, so hard to say. If you must have a yes or no, having finished the game, I say yes (if asked midway through I would have said no). Platform: PS3.

I don't see it as a bad game, either. I see it as not Dragon Age: Origins, hence why they're on two seperate discs..

In some ways yes, in some ways no. A simple "yes or no" is just that... way too simple. PC.

Sorry Bioware, the game was okay in it's own right, but it was nothing on DA:O.

i liked the voiced dialogue, better graphics (on consoles), the music, and faster combat.
For PC Origins is better
For Xbox 360 imo DA2 is significantly better

Update. PC & PS3
Is both improvement and impairment. Story is great. Not executed the way a lot of us would like but still great nonetheless. Touches more...in depth subjects of the world of Dragon Age.
