This question is easily answered given a few requierments.

you have to have beaten both games, and you have to not be so bloody biased (second one is hte rare one in these forums)

you managed those 2 and the answer is 3fold

aspects of it were better then DAO

aspects of it were worse then DAO

aspects of it were better and worse depending on the persons opinion.

Bioware spent double the time creating DA:O than it did creating DA2 and i wouldn't disagree to the notion that DA:O is double the game of DA2.....long story short NO. Origins is better

This is not entirely true.  While the number of console voters that say "yes" is higher than the PC voters,
there's still a greater number of them voting "no" than "yes" (which is not surprising when you consider that two thirds of the voters so far have voted "no" and only a quarter have voted "yes").  So even trying to appeal to the console crowd didn't really work.  Console gamers don't tolerate heavily reused dungeons, copious bugs, and an obviously rushed product any more than PC gamers do.  And really, enough with the baseless PC elitism and insults.  If there's anything you should take away from this thread, it's that PC and console gamers alike consider DAII an inferior game.  Platform-bashing gets us nowhere.

Today's totals, taking into account double posts, non-answers, and changed answers:

192 (24.2%) users voted "yes"

517 (65%) users voted "no"

86 (10.8%) users had mixed reviews or felt it was on par with Origins

Console gamer tally results (for those that bothered to specify a platform):

93 (39.2%) users voted "yes"

122 (51.5%) users voted "no"

Rivalry is an improvement. I also think it has slightly better presentation in some areas. Other than that, no. I played it on the PC.

The gameplay is smoother yes but there are a lot of things that I thought were setbacks rather than improvements when it came to the story and character development. Those are big things for me.
