It's different. There's no yes/no answer.
But they've made it more of an action game then a rpg. Good or bad? *shrug*
I bought the game so i could play an RPG.
When i want mostly fast paced action i'll fire up an FPS or something.
Funny thing is the guy in the Hanged Man tavern, talking of how things are simplified - i feel someone took a poke at their own game ^^
Survey: do you think DA2 is an improvement?

Yes and no.
Some points are improved, others are not. Combat has gotten immensely frustrating, as there is no way to recover after a battle, as there are 14 more waves you have to fight through to rest, meaning if you ever lose a character or run out of stamina, you're pretty much toast.

Somethings are better, a few are worse. But overall, I enjoy DA2 more, so I will say yes.

Can't be covered in a simple y/n.
I enjoyed the heck out of it however. Don't see where all the hate's from.

I can't give a yes or no because I liked some of the things they did but disliked some of the things it did, so I guess perhaps? If I had to choose I would say no though: Ps3.

This thread (and the forums in general) are not representative of anything because those with the strongest opinions are the most likely to come here and post.

N/A (have yet to play it)
If I was doing this survey I'd politely request the following information:
1) Fans Age
2) How they scored(0-10 pts) ME1 and ME2.
3) If they found DA:O difficult.
4) Which platform they prefer.
That should imo give you some fine data.
And now some funky music: www.youtube.com/watch

No, on almost every count

I'd also like to add that while I could see how certain changes would please console gamers, the bland story should still be a disappointment, regardless of improved combat mechanics. But again, I'm sure some people enjoyed the DA2 story more than DA:O.

I dunno
PC
I don't understand why "streamlining" or whatever it's called requires elimination of immersion. Speed up the combat and all that, fine. I think it looks pretty cool. Far better than the 1st game. But the little things...The party selection screen being purely black, and none of the little phrases and musical jingles when you select or de-select a potential party member...No page-flipping sound when reading the codex...by no means does it break the game, but every time I encounter them I'm reminded that the first game had those and so many other little flourishes. It's like this interface should have been in DA:O and DA:O's more polished form should be in this game. Anyone else? Or am I taking crazy pills? ....MMmmmmmm
