I feel that the roleplaying in DA:2 is severely limited, not by choises in general, but by their intent. (Sort of an end game spoiler below)

I want to be villanous not heroic.
I want my Mage to save kirkwall for selfish gains only.
I want my powerhungry mage to rule Kirkwall with an ironfist that makes Tevinter magisters
look like nuns compared.
I want to support Anders more when he blows up the chantry, hell i want him as my apprentice and congratulate him!

Anyone else here that loves to be the mad powerhungry mage, and simply cant manage because of the limitations to roleplaying in this game? An example of "Being forced into a hero role" is when accepting a quest to help someone. Like:

"Ill help you" (Blue response) ends up in "Ofcourse ill help your poor son!"

"Ill help you" (Red response) ends up in "Ill crush the cruel slavers that is keeping your son!"

See what i mean? My character support slavery and just want some gold, yet my immersion is destroyed at several points like this because none of the choises represent my character.
Dont get me wrong, i love the game and many choises are truly cruel, selfish and evil

But in general, playing this way often feels very limited and forced, as if the writers originally intended for Hawke to be the standard, boring and self rightious white knight. In to many conversations you have to try and act as if your responses are sarcastic... to many.

Agreed.

Best example I saw was end of Act 2, talking to Meredith.

"I'll help you" turned into "I'll do anything to save my City".

I didn't care about the City. I wanted to be a damn crime boss. And the Qunari were messing up my plans.

There are so many examples of text turning into a totally unintended responce in not even funny anymore X.x

It would be nice with an official responce to as if the roleplaying, as selfish and "evil", is flawed on biowares side (IE: They want it to be possible but fail). Or if it is intended that Hawke is forced to be a heroic person.

Since noone else cares, then i guess the lack of villanous/evil responses and options is justifiable by bioware. Seems our minority is so small only two of us is willing to stand up for it here on the forums atleast.

kinda sad the game is limited to the heroic stereotypes.

Well Hawke is supposed to be the Champion of Kirkwall, not the Jerkwad of Kirkwall...
