Well, having a womb and birth canal is common sense for any birth to happen. In any case, thread is getting slightly off topic with talk of Asari female sex organs and whatnot. :P As previously stated, point of this thread is for talk/discussion/debate of the "male" Asari possibility/plausibility and all it would involve.

Of course. The question then becomes, "Did you bother reading the majority of this thread before posting?" It's usually a good idea to do that first. :P

This is an open statement to those who are opposed to the notions discussed within this thread:

This is pretty much just an exercise in speculation; one big "what if" session. If that holds no appeal, that's fine. If you disagree with certain points and have reasons to support that stance, I'm pretty sure no one would mind reading that.

But, please, enough with the argument of "It's not canon, so it's not possible. Shut up." All that does is bog down the discussion and annoy. If this topic isn't your flavor, that's fine. Please stop spoiling it for the rest of us. Thank you.

Now, back to topic.

@CARL_DF90

Here's a bit of a challenge I'm thinking of opening up: a Shepard-style intro for a male asari. Basically, putting together a custom male asari character like you would a custom Shepard. (For reasons of clarity, please specify if your male is a tankbred or Cro-magnon asari)

You have to provide a Paragon, Renegade, and Neutral background (like Shepard's spacer, colonist, or earthborn), as well as a Paragon, Renegade, and Neutral mental profile (akin to sole survivor, war hero, or ruthless). A little blurb giving a bit of detail for each wouldn't go amiss.

Let me know what you think.

I give. Ok so only when an asari mates with a highly modded, rebuilt and resurrected FemShep, they both get pregnant - the Asari has a little fair skinned (or dark, depending on your FemShep) Asari girl and FemShep an Asari/human hybrid boy with blue skin, red dreadlocks, and massive biotic abilties.

Oh? Glad to hear. Definitely look forward to hearing them.

Well, seeing as how I brought up the idea, I guess I should give an example of what I was talking about. Here's what I've got:

(Neo-asari, tankbred)
Age at current date: 74

Potential Backgrounds:

Test subject: Genetically engineered on a lab site on Noveria. Formative years spent as subject of study regarding biotic development. Considered a failed experiment, was subjected to numerous tests and examinations considered illegal in Council space under articles regarding torture. Managed to escape the facility after a catastrophic security protocol breach, killing all on-site research team members. Records of his actions and whereabouts thereafter are unavailable.

Ardat-yakshi: Was discovered by asari justicars in pursuit of fugitives attempting to genetically engineer a biotic weapon against the asari. Taken to an ardat-yakshi monastery and raised by the sisters there. Developed a sibling-like relationship with one of the younger, more well-travelled sisters there, who told him stories of the galaxy outside the monastery. After the sister's accidental death, decided to leave the monastery to see the galaxy for himself, and stowed away on a cargo ship in a wine delivery.

Duct Rat: Found by Alliance military forces in a genetics lab raid, was to be delivered to an Alliance-sponsored children's home for proper upbringing. Reached as far as the Citadel when he evaded his escorts in transit when he learned of his delivery. Lived for some time thereafter as a petty thief, but while witnessed several times, was never arrested due to evasion. Took refuge in the ventilation ducts of the Citadel until he grew too large, then sought passage on a vessel to take him away, before C-Sec could arrest him.

Need some fleshing out, but that's what I've got for a primer.

Seriously if you are going to write fanfic or even para-fanfic, putting up a page of typographic garbage like that is an insult - no one but you is going to read it.  Your show a contemptuous and arrogant disregard of your audience - which is to say you don't deserve one.

Grow up, take a writing course and come back when you've learned something, have something to say, and know how to say it.

...ps - Sincere apologies, Fyodor.

Actually, it's spelled "Dostoevsky" and you my friend seem to be in need of lessons in civility, since you seem to lack the ability to convey thoughts and critique in a mature manner.

Oh, and for the record, I originally wasn't going to post it here. I wrote it for fun but it was suggested by a few who have read my work to do so. But since you want to make a such a big, immature deal out of it I removed it. Grow up? Heed your own advice.

typos? not the issue at all. Did you see what your post looked like? If it weren't your own, could you imagine any reason to read it?

You post a solid block of text running two pages without a single paragraph break - concept after concept running on and on and expect people to wade right in? Think about it - would you? I don't object to a misspelling or even a broken sentence or missed word - hell, this a forum - people type and read fast - and want to get on to the next thing - have some care and consideration for those you want to be your readers.

I'm glad you took down the post as that gives you the oppty to reformat it, and present it again so it shows you and your ideas in the best possible light, and invites rather than repels readership.

Glad I pissed you off enough to do something that could actually further your own goals.

Heh, not pissed. Disappointed is more the word. In any case, had you said so in the beginning it would have made for a much more logical critique than what you had before and your point would have gotten across better. In turn it would have made you look a little better too. It is a valid point. Not everyone in these forums is unreasonable and I hope not to be confused to be part of that catagory. Image IPB Believe it or not I am open to critique. Also, I had a reason for breaking it up: space. I was initially concerned about how much space it was going to take up so that's why I did it. It is a personal querk of mine to conserve space. Heck, there are occations where I do it without even thinking. Image IPB I have to admit though, I did get a good chuckle out of the "Dostoevsky" comment. Thought that was a nice touch. Image IPB

Re-posted with some improvements
Birthed (Genetic-abnormality/mutation)
Age as of Earth date 2186: 25

Story begins with a Human System's Alliance Marine named Lieutenant Aidan Novak, assigned to escort a Xeno-archeology team digging through ruins on an unclaimed and uncharted world. Unbeknownst to them the First Contact War was being waged as they were excavating. Team found a Reaper artifact similar to what Object Rho was and what had been discovered by the Turians during the events of Evolution. As the team was cataloging their find the object responded reflexively to what it detected as an external threat when the team used a laser to attempt to remove a piece for testing. When the Reaper artifact activated it drew upon Dark energy to power up, and shot out bolts of energy and convert the entire team. The guard detail was only at the outer ring of the energy and Aidan was shielded by a wall of his comrades taking the brunt of the energy. He only received a fraction that scrambled his nervous system with Dark Energy and making him reel back in pain as he blacked out. He woke up only to see the entire team converted and as they woke they moved to attack him. Confused as to what had just happened and horrified at what his friends and team mates had turned into he opened fire, but only a few were put down before they over whelmed him. Just as they were about to throw him into the artifact, out of fear and panic he instinctively used new Biotic abilities that the artifact had awakened within him. Drawing upon large amounts of Dark energy he single-handedly slaughtered the converted team with his new found biotics. After which the artifact powered down and left the Marine officer dazed.

After a few weeks he recovered enough to take one of the ships back to his garrison back at Shanxi, but not before taking a drive core from one of the other ships and converting it into a make-shift nuke and destroying the site shortly after take-off. Not sure as to how he knew to that, he was more relieved to see that sight go up in flames and started the long trek back home. By the time he entered the system Shanxi was located in, it was under siege by the Turians. His ship was forced down to an isolated part of the colony. He was tracked down and hunted by a Turian squad. At first it was simply to make sure he was killed, but after he slaughtered that entire squad singlehanded with his biotics they were more interested in capture as this was the first instance the Turians had encountered human biotics on the battlefield. Such was the power of his biotics they focused an entire platoon of about 60 to track down one human. Aidan was an expertly trained Marine and with the power of biotics behind him he slowly and systematically killed all but the commander of that Turian capture unit. He captured him and attempted to interrogate the Turian, but when he refused to answer all of Aidan's questions he was about to decide to kill him. Instead, just as he moved to strike a killing blow with his biotics, his hands dug into the Turian's skull and suddenly found his mind merging with the Turian’s like an Asari would in "embracing eternity". After extracting, rather painfully, all the knowledge the Turian had on his people, military, and the galaxy at large he became unsure what to do next as the startling revelations of other life in the galaxy had started to hit him. It became a moot point because a few days later Shanxi was liberated and the Turians evicted from the system. As peace had been restored Aidan knew better than to return to the Alliance as he was.

There were too many questions surrounding his return with his new abilities and wild stories were already circulating throughout the colony about a “Human with magic powers” slaughtering Turians. The knowledge he “mined” from the Turian commander gave him new insight into what his new abilities were and how to use them. However, if he went back to the Alliance he would be accused of desertion first, and then would become a lab rat second. Knowing this he left Alliance space and never looked back. Along the way, he found ways to “meld” more gently with other living things from Asari maidens he had encountered on his wonderings. During this time of wondering, in the year 2161 he encountered an Ardat-Yakshi named Kailenna who wanted to have a deadly one-night stand with him. Just as they were making love she turned her abilities on him and was about to overwhelm his nervous system. Then suddenly somewhere within him a voice echoed, “Defend, resist, evolve”. Out of what can be best described as “instinct”, he turned his melding abilities onto her as well. Their nervous systems violently collided as they continued to have intercourse and in the process they both somehow achieved equilibrium in the melding. Neither died in the process although if it were not for his abilities taking hold and stopping hers then he would have been dead, but he felt something new in this union. The next morning he and his Ardat-Yakshi lover found new solace in each other as they were both outcasts among their people, and for the first time in her 205 years found a mate that would not die from being with her. Finding new peace, they both settled on an isolated Asari colony far from the prying eyes of either of their governments.

Then approximately one year later a child was born to them, but it was not a normal Asari by any means. Although it bore a physical resemblance to Asari it had male characteristics instead of female. Somehow during their melding where he forces back Kailenna’s abilities, it is his nervous system that attunes itself to hers and during this it is his DNA that is taken into and implanted into her womb, resulting in a true Asari/Human hybrid. Kailenna was at first shocked, but then was adjusted as her second of two wishes came true. She wished for nothing more than a mate that could survive being with her, and to somehow have a child of her own. Until she had met Aidan she had all but given up on such things, but for the first time in decades she now knew what true happiness was. Despite not being able to return home Aidan felt the same way. Since the child was due to Aidan, his Asari wife felt it appropriate that he would name him. After some deep thought on the matter he decided to name their child Adonis Novak, and swore that no matter what they would be happy. As years pasted, they both raised their child in relative safety in a rural area on the small Asari colony, with only a few Asari confidants who were friends to them and Kailenna’s sister knowing the existence of this child. They both raised him to know the histories, languages, and cultures of their respective home worlds in the hopes that he could one day return to those places that they had left behind.

On his 24th year of life, Adonis was, by Human standards at least, was full grown and very independent. He was strong, caring, and believed in integrity and justice, although knowing who and what he was even at a young age he always felt isolated and alone in the universe as there were none like him. He knew that unless he could be stronger than the rest in mind, body, and in principle he would not be able to cope with what laid before him: scorn, fear, and prejudice at his very existence. Despite that pressure and life in virtual hiding he loved his family and his few friends deeply, and worn his father’s Alliance military dog tags with a great deal of pride. However, this peace would be broken all too soon by the sudden attack on his colony world by Eclipse mercenaries. Rumors had started to circulate for a few years on the colony about a “male” Asari, rumors that had somehow reached the attention of the Collectors. The Collectors had put out a ridiculously large bounty that could only be competed by their price on Commander Shepard. In the end, a childhood friend whom he always thought of as an older sister would betray his family’s location for the reward. Despite the overwhelming odds they held off the initial attack by the mercenaries in an incredible display of biotic power. Adonis, full of anger and rage at the betrayal that led the Eclipse mercs to his home allowed his concentration to be shaken for only the briefest of moments to be critically wounded in the battle.

The next waves of mercs were closing in and the odd of everyone escaping was almost non-existent. Instead of wasting precious energy in attempting a hopeless escape, the father Aidan instructed Kailenna’s sister to take his son away from there while they held off the mercs to buy time for his escape. Adonis refused to leave his parent’s side instead wanting to fight with them despite his injuries. It was an insane notion that he could continue to fight with a hole in his gut from a pistol shot, and a quick application of medi-gel could only keep him alive long enough to reach real medical care. He still wouldn’t listen to his father or his mother, and had to be dragged away kicking and screaming by his aunt. His parents bid their farewells and their love for him as he was taken to safety, all the while he was calling out to them to come with them. He was too weak to do little else as he watched from a distance as the mercs destroyed his home, but not before suffering many horrible deaths at the hands of his biotic father and Ardat-Yakshi mother. Losing everything in a single instant threw him into despair as he realized just how powerless he really was. He and his aunt had barely managed to get away, but at the cost of everything else. The anguish swirled within him as he lost all conscious thought and fell into a biotically fueled rage that, to the shock of his aunt, spontaneously healed his abdominal wounds. The outburst, while incredible left him drained as he blacked out. He would wake up alone few days later on an Asari shuttle leaving under false pretenses. He would find a recording from his aunt detailing why he was by himself. Apparently, they had been discovered while she was taking him to safety.

Like his parents before her, she was forced to choose to stay behind to buy time for the autopilot of his shuttle to launch him into FTL to ensure his escape. She left him with enough supplies to last the trip, plus the life savings of his entire family. For the first time in his life, he had broken down crying. Not once before then had he cried. Not when he scraped his knees as a child, nor when he had broken bones during his parents’ training, and not even when he had a hole in his gut. Taking little notice of the fact that his gut was now completely healed, he all but gave into his sadness as hot tears streamed down his face. For what seemed like hours, he cried a lifetime’s worth of tears. Later, he regained his composure to think on what to do now. The autopilot was taking him to Omega. He had heard of the place before from his mother and friends. Perhaps he would find what he would need there. He dried his tears and with renewed determination, remembered what had been sacrificed to see him safe and held onto that as he would face an uncertain universe alone.

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week.

Back to topic, when last I left this board, I offered an example for my challenge of the creation of a custom male asari. Looking back at it, though, I realize I left it incomplete. I also requested a psychological profile. What follows is my example.

Potential Profiles:

Soldier Boy: After numerous close-call encounters with justicars in his travels, he realized that he wouldn't last long on his own, and sought out some form of protection. He stowed away on a volus merchant transport headed for Palaven, and upon arrival, revealed himself to the turian authorities, seeking asylum.
After lengthy discussion regarding his lack of identification and possible fugitive status, the turian officers reluctantly agreed to allow him provisional entry into one of their military academies in order to possibly qualify him for turian citizenship, dependant on his dealings with any legal entanglements involved in his background investigation, his meeting of their academic standards, and the maintenance of a clean disciplinary record. He showed significant talent in coursework, but his individualistic drive and aloof demeanor did little to engender any goodwill amongst his classmates, who thought his behavior snobbish.

His academic career earned him several distinctions, including becoming the first non-turian to attend a homeworld academy, holding one of the longest tenures in recent memory as an academy cadet (remedial studies for his prior lack of formal schooling extended his stay by 9 years), and becoming the only non-turian to ever graduate without a single demerit. He is currently stationed within a Palaven auxilliary cabal specializing in home system patrol and emergency response, where he has served six years of a twenty year tour of duty.

Refugee: He spent several years roaming the galaxy, stowing away aboard various ships as he shiftlessly hopped from station to station, colony to colony. On one such trip, grave peril struck as the transport carrying him suffered a catastrophic failure after coming out of FTL travel, killing or mortally wounding the crew capable of piloting and crippling the ship. With no knowledge of how to repair any of the damage or how to pilot, he and the surviving crew could only hope for rescue as the ship got caught in the gravity well of the hanar homeworld of Kahje, and fell into a rapidly-decaying orbit. Luckily for them, however, the ship's emergency distress signal was picked up by a drell response crew, who managed to quickly evacuate the dying ship before it burned up in Kahje's atmosphere.

When questioned by his rescuers in an attempt to return him home (and finding out that he didn't HAVE one), and after consulting with their hanar overseers, he was offered a position as a client resident of the hanar, like the drell. With no other plan, and with an eagerness to repay his rescuers and benefactors, he agreed, and thus began his service to the hanar.

To those who he knows by soul-name, he is deeply respected for his unwavering dedication and dogged determination to his duty, whether assigned or voluntary, along with a kindness and fierce loyalty to those few close to him. To the majority who he knows only by face-name however, he is shunned as they take issue with his total irreverence to the preachings of the Enkindlers, and is considered excessively abrupt and curt, even to the drell.

Cabin Boy: After several years of forced travel to evade authorities and subsisting on scraps and refuse for day-to-day life, desperation and hunger led him to attempt serious crime, his first planned target that of a delivery consignment sitting just outside a hangar bay on Omega. In the midst of the attempted theft, he was rendered unconscious.  It was when he awoke that he found out just why the consignment was sitting out with so little security; as it turned out, the goods belonged to a pirate band of some small reknown. In exchange for sparing his life, the captain of the ship, a mercenary-minded woman who was referred to by crew as "the Mistress", demanded tribute for herself and the crew. With nothing of value to barter, his payment was to be in trade as their servant, and it was as such that he was pressed into servitude.

While the crew may have referred to him as cabin boy, he knew well his true job title: slave. He was given every difficult, dangerous and unpleasant task they could manage to give, as he was considered little more than property; more than once, he had to fight one or more of the varren the crew kept aboard over the meager food they deemed to give him, or starve for the day. As years passed, the harsh treatment and laborous tasks hardened him, and he learned well of patience as he bade his time, waiting expectantly for an opportunity to free himself.

The opportunity presented itself when, after a string of repelled attacks resulted in heavy losses in crew, "the Mistress" found herself with a mutiny on her hands. During the resulting firefight, he got hold of a pistol that had come loose, and careful to avoid detection, he snuck into the cockpit, executed the pilot, and redirected the ship into the nearest star before shooting out the console. By the time the crew noticed the alert klaxons, he had already snuck his way into the ship's sole emergency escape pod and jettisoned, leaving the crew to their fate.

(...Okay, I had a bit too much fun with that last one, but still...) Anyway, that's what I've got.

Hmm...I like. Plenty of variety in there, that's for sure. Especially liked the one with the integration into Turian society. That was a nice touch. Most people rarely think about the Turians.

Thank you. I figured that it was a largely overlooked possibility, but under the right circumstances, the turian military could very well be used as a futuristic interstellar version of the French foreign legion. You go because you have nothing left that you can afford to remember, and you stay because you want to forget what you've seen. That, and there's a good possibility that turians wouldn't put up with someone trying to kill one of their citizens, even if they're naturalized.

There's one thing that I forgot when I posted this sample of a custom male asari: specialization.

I don't think I'll fix it, either; the way I set up the background and profile, he doesn't have much of any opportunity to develop a military mindset, and as such, wouldn't have that grounding. Even the turian cadet profile didn't develop that, as while that version would be more comfortable around weapons, he was posted in emergency response/rescue, not a terribly combat-intensive cabal.

My solution? Military training by association, dependant on loyalty. Whoever is in the party along with him with a high enough loyalty score, he picks up experience toward that character's style of fighting. Enough experience, and he picks up aspects of their fighting style.

Nope. Only the asari get pregnant, even if the partner is female she is still a daddy. There has never been a hint of penatration, they simply cause pleasure with the mind meld. There are no hybrids, the child is always a female asari.
