I say wait for an Ultimate Edition. It's bound to happen at some point.

Skip it if you liked DA:Origins.

If you liked the first combat system avoid this game like the plague, its nowhere near as good. If you want a generic hack and slash with monsters appearing from nowhere and (in my opinion) some of the worst skill advancement screens known to gaming then this is the game for you.

I love how so many people complaining about the game have ZERO games registered here.

By the way i have not played either dragon age or DA2.

Only reason I have ME2 registered is a technical issue. Seeing as how getting you banned can mean not being able to play, well having an alternate account for posting makes a lot of sense.

Not buying it is the only way to show you're not pleased with the direction they're taking. If you still want to play it, borrow it from a friend, rent it or buy a used copy.

Getting account banned by EA can and will result in you being unable to play the very games you bought with your own money and registered with their online service.

It's entirely understandable that even people who normally don't engage in bannable behavior would be wary enough about that to create alts.

I hadn't registered my game till today ...

I agree that judging someone simply by the icons under their name is pointless.  I hadn't registered my copy of DA2 for days after I bought it, and STILL haven't regestered my copy of Mass Effect 1 - usually because I just don't care enough to do so.  I played the games, had fun with them, but the little icon under my name really doesn't mean anything to me; I'm not interested in keeping score and don't scale opinions by now many shinies a person has on his account.  Rather than look for a reason to pick apart those who argue with you, people would do better to actually try responding to the argument itself.

Ok fair enough but my comment about the OP being a blaatant troll still stands...

Why would you create 2 topics like this...

Don't let other people ruin what could be your chance to play an excellent rpg, with deep story and superb writing.  I was uncertain about DA2 when I came to it as well, but it blew me away.  If you have an open mind, and are willing to accept a game that is not DA:O, I highly encourage you to give Dragon Age 2 a try.

This. I had low expectations too and I wasn't entirely happy withthe demo, but I love the game now. The only problem I have with it at all is that I dislike that boss fights resemble MMO raiding, but the writing, characters and quests are brilliant imo, and that's what matters most to me in an RPG. I liked DA:O a lot, but if I had to pick I would say DA II is the better game. Combat is smoother, there's much more action and I feel more immersed in Hawke's story than the Warden's.

Considering how many threads the OP had made decrying DA2 as the greatest abomination he ever saw, I'd say he has made his choice already and this thread is pointless.

I'm not a big fan of many of the changes either, but I wish the criticism would return to some level of basic sense, because only then will it be heard.

I love it. I don't agree with your assumption that it's inferior to DAO. It's vastly improved in many respects.

It really depends on your money and your time. I'm one of the "Disappointed" so take that into account. But some people are enjoying the game, you may be one of them.

Read some of the more expansive and reasoned criticisms and see whether they apply to you first. For example, if you were a big fan of Origins and enjoyed the tactical combat, you may well like this game less. If you just stayed in control of your main character in Origins most of the time and battered along, you may not be bothered as much.

Now that out of the way, it really depends on how much of an investment this is for you. It costs quite a bit and will eat up your time. If you think the money isn't so very much and have plenty of free time and are just looking for some passing amusement, then don't take the negativity to heart too much, you'll still get some entertainment out of it probably. But if there are better things to spend your money on (other games, movies, going out, whatever), then maybe pass on this and play it some day when its cheaper. It's Spring right now (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere). Save it for Winter when it's dark and cold out and you can get it for cheaper if you still want it when the Hype has worn off you.

Hope this helps. I think the game is a bit of a tragic waste myself, but it depends what you're comparing it to. Thirty hours of sitting at home not doing anything else and no other games to play? Get it. Comparing it to another upcoming game or going out and having fun? Don't. Heck, you could spend the equivalent amount of money on some good novels and get more hours entertainment from your money and time. It's up to you.

I played and finished DA2 and love it, though it has definite faults. I thoroughly enjoy Act III and choosing a side where there is no pure good or evil - it's a refreshing feeling for an RPG with choices. That being said, there are severe bugs in regards to importing DA:O saves (the game is flat out wrong when referencing decisions from your imported save, ruining your world's continuity) and several companion bugs late game that wreck your Hawke's experience (like if you decide to romance Merrill in Act II). I've played and loved Bioware games since Mass Effect and DA2 seems to have the worst bugs of this generation of their products. For this reason, I recommend that you definitely play DA2 but wait for patches that address the bugs I mentioned. Or wait for another Ultimate Edition.

It's like an expansion that doesn't really matter. If you're looking for an Origins sequel don't waste your time with DA2.

Having said that, having a family in DA2 was interesting, it's what made the game...because let's face it, the story was boring.

It's a good game, it's just no Bioware good. I would wait till the 1st patch, when they fix some of the more serious issues, and then buy it. It's n ot DAO though.

@ HieOapeen,

Before you run away with all these threads, I have just one simple question to ask. Upon looking below your icon, I noticed that you do not have any games registered. Although I can understand the criticism, why do you not have any games registered? Did you buy any dlc?

Other words, did you purchase your rights to voice your opinion buy buying any of BioWare's games?

Are you a BioWare consumer?

You dont have to register any DA games to play them, lots of people do not have xbox live, PSN, or dont bother to do it on the PC...Also with ALL the DLC from Origins, you can buy that on a stand alone disc, does not require registration...

I have bought the game and I think it is a decent time killer to tide you over until great RPGs like the Witcher 2 and Skyrim come out later this year but I do not intend to buy any DLC.
