Man-Giraffe-Dog has been spotted! It's all over the news! MGD is the greatest threat to mankind ever and I've come

here to warn you! Here's Proof (person who took the picture was brutally killed 5 seconds after taking it) And it's HIDING it's manliness at the moment, that's why it looks like a giraffe-dog.

Still Super Duper Serial.

Considering I know for a fact I have talked seven people out a da2 already I don't expect that selling from word of mouth will happen as much as people expect. Yes it will draw in a new crowd of gamers, but the older crowd won't be as happy and we tend to be chaty at our weekly coffee meetings.

there are alot of elements of DAII that are very good and can really strengthen the series, but i agree with the op somewhat. the game development cycle was too short and it shows. i bet bioware knows this even if they dont say it. still, there are some great points of this game. if it wasnt DA, if it was a game i played while waiting for the next DA title, i would be thrilled with it.

I think the mistake they made was trying to appeal to a totally new group of people and turning their backs on their core fans. I think if you are going to make changes they should of been smaller and gradually brought in. why not try and expand the fan base to include more groups.

I'm liking it so far.

The game can only be a success or failure in the eye of the beholder.

Wrong, sales decide that.

And player reviews are almost universally bad.

So, it's failed. We "whiners" were right at last. But I'm not happy at all with this. Do I have to say that many people warned developers since the first announcement of short development time, dialogue wheel, overall simplyfying looking like Mass Effect, horrible graphics and so on? We don't know any sales figures yet, but I think this game won't enjoy the same success like Mass Effect 2 or DA:O. Metacritic's and Gamerankings' scores of reviewers and gamers say for itself.

Who are we? I didn't whine that much and I thought this game is good so far. Is it really awesome and perfect? no i still have comlains but I think in certain ways it is better than DA:O. Horrible graphics? I don't what you're comparing it to but even the lowest scored reviews claims that the visuals in this game was much better than the first. SO i don't see how you can say it has horrible graphics comparing it to DA:O. Comparing to ME2 maybe, but ME2 was also a much shorter game. Besides, I really like the new art style that they used for this game.

As for the reviews, I believe the current average is around 83 or 82, not really that bad if you ask me especially considering the amount of vocal resistance to the game changes. Personally, i think whether you like it or not comes down to just personal taste.

From an art and technical point of view, the game is superior to the first. it runs smoother, the menus are easier to handle and it has better production value, it feels more like a finish game compared to the first. When it comes to story, combat and gameplay, these are very much subjective opinions so you can't really say we "whiners" were right. You're essentially keeping the same stance you had when the game was announce, nobody can do anything aobut that, its your opinion.

I disagree a sequel sales are mostly based on the game that came before it

Game can sell horribly and I'll still consider it a good game, which for me is all that really matters. Exactly why should an individual who receives no money for a game selling worry about how badly/well it sales?

Your opinion is strictly your opinion. In your eyes, you're "right" about what you didn't like. People who liked it probably disagree with your assessment however (I know I do at any rate).

Agreed. Naturally I'm saddened for Bioware that other people's reactions are what they are, for whatever reason. But while this falls short on some things in DAO, it also far exceeds it in many others. And as mentioned in my recent topic, with Nightmare & AI + tactics off, personally controlling every single second of every toon in combat, the combat mechanics in this game exceed anything I've seen in like a decade. This is *insanely* fun.

All I can guess is people bought into the instant gratification much like I myself almost did, and failed to go deeper into the game's mechanics to see what was really going on. DA2 is *very* challenging, but also extremely gratifying. And personally I feel the dialogue wheel was a huge improvement over anything before, since the icons and the new options from negotiation to using party advice to sarcasm etc make it easier than ever to make the protagonist seem like the kind of personality I want.

This is honestly a very good game, right now the ONLY downsides to me is the map design repetition and the sometimes overtaken mob spawns. Everything else is a bonus.

The graphics of DA2 are way better than the DAO graphics. Look at the improved face details and more detailed textures.

What's wrong with the dialogue wheel? IMO it's a nice addition and an easy way to choose "the mood" of your character towards others.

The only (game play) things which really bother me are the always repeating dungeons and the fact that DA2 is less epic than DAO. [just 2 or 3 months more work and we could have more diverse dungeons]. Technical things that anoy me: The temp. freezing

At the end of the day, Bioware needs to come out and address the criticism without claiming that it's the consumers being "opposed to change" or any other deflecting comments.

I'd really, really respect them if they came out and went "Yes. It's different from Origins. We apologise to all the Origins fans, we feel we may have let you down a little. We promise we'll be taking all of your feedback, including the negatives, into making the next game as awesome as possible. We may have changed both the combat and the dialogue model to appeal to a larger audience, but we promise we'll try our best to return Dragon Age to the original format."

Instead, we're just being told not to criticise, and that if we don't like change, then we shouldn't be playing.

PS: Button mashing isn't fun. If it was, I'd be playing Dynasty Warriors.

Bioware will never come out and try to please you fans. You are a small minority that doesn't matter anyways. Sorry, a little blunt, but there you go. It's actually true. And here's another thing. Many, many, many people would not play DAO because of how oldschool it was...and all of those people have expressed interest in DA2...so, Bioware will win.

Depends on sales figures. Bioware will proclaim victory if it sells more than DA:O. Otherwise if it sells worse, Bioware might think they didn't go far enough in "casualizing" DA.

I looooooooove how Bioware is now completely avoiding contact with the forums and their customers, burying their heads in the sand, I think they just realized that even gods can bleed.
