 I was just wondering what the requirements are to keep Aveline from taking the Templars' side if you choose Mages at the end, does she have to be a full friend with all quests done, or is rival possible. Or even something like Fenris where you can persuade him to back you at the end without fighting him.

I had full friendship and had done all her quests and she stayed even when I chose the mages.

Yeah thats the exact same thing that happened with me the first time I played, but now I'm trying to make an ideal playthrough but she isn't one of the people I'm going to play with so I want know if I can keep her without getting full friendship.

Companions side against you if their belief doesn't match with you and they don't have either friendship/rivalry. I think Isabella(if she comes back with the relic) and Varric doesn't live your party regardless which side you choose.

I feel like Aveline has enough side quests that if you do all of those, regardless of whether or not she's in your party (and she's force into it at one point) you can easily max friendship with her.

I'd say gifts/sidequests where you give her ultimate kiss up treatment. I didn't use her in act 2 on for the most part...and she was maxed out by the end of act 2.

From what I can tell, all quests and full friendship or full rivalry.

I did all her quests and had a small friendship with her. She stuck by me.

I had Aveline at max rivalry, but had won her respect, and while she was clearly for siding with the templars, when push came to shove she stuck by me even when I chose to defend the mages.

You don't need full friendship/rivalry. I had her about halfway to friendship and she stayed by me. I rarely used her, but did all quests and gifts.

I think its more like Mass Effect 2, you got to do all the companion related quests or they die.

Nonsense.  Aveline doesn't die under any circumstances.  Nor does Varric, Isabela or Sebastian.

The only characters who can die are your siblings, Anders, Fenris or Merrill.

Good to know, I think I have everything I need now. Just need to get back Origins from my friend so I can play that on my new PS3. lol

I hate her And she stayed in her hosue most of the time, but I did her quests, teased her a bit and had her with like 10% frienship or something (where can I look this up?), it wasn't much and she said "I can't do this hwake" But she decided to come along either way afterwards...pity..I did not want her

I don't know if it was max friendship...but it was along that route..maybe sneaking into the rivarly line.... I did all her quests, etc...

I had Fenris's friensdhip maxed...but I was STILL shocked he fought with the mages instead of against them....

I believe I had my entire party...cept Izzie, but she left after the book thing....

You definitely don't need full friendship. I had neither with Fenris or Aveline and both stayed. i did do all their quests/gifts though and friendship was high, just not 100%.

I think she has to have the friendship part of her unique skills section lit up. I didn't have her maxed out but she still sided with me- and thank God, because if she hadn't I was only going to have two mages and an archer on my side.
