I ended up simply using whatever loot the game gave me. Most of it was pretty good, so I kept it and distributed it to all of my companions.
I ended the game with over 200 soveriegns. I probably could have gotten even more if I didn't buy any backpacks.
Did you guys actually buy anything in the game?

I didn't buy a thing during the game and ended with 260 soverigns, when I sold all my stuff just before the final fight I ended up with 501 soverigns.

I bought potions, recipes, companion armor upgrades, inventory upgrades, a couple runes, and a few robes to see if anything looked better than what I was already wearing.
But yeah, I didn't really even care about the weapons/accessories, or the armor for that matter. You get enough of those on quests to find ones you like.

Companion armor and some potions, yep. The odd recipe here and there. Not much though.

Potions out the butt, so many potions. They're way more effective than an actual healer.

Early on I bought some nice daggers, only to replace them during questing.

I used the console to give me gold enough to buy the best of anything equipment available at any market stall I passed, if it was better than what I was already holding.
And even then, most of the time I'd get maybe 2-3 fights into the next quest before finding something even better in the loot.
Then again, I did have Hindsight on, that may have helped.

I bought companion armor, potions, and . . .well, that's about it.
I did order some grenades going into late game action. That's about it.

Only once, from the trader in the Wounding Coast who has one of the best staffs at the game (at a hefty price). Otherwise the best gear game from quests.

Isn't that the truth...

Like others I bought potions and grenades, but I also bought The Final Thought from the Black Emporium. It turned out to be the best staff I ever found so thankfully that purchase was justified.

I bought lots of stuff. None of it was really worth it, except perhaps a dagger for Hawke. Now I wish I'd just saved money to buy the ability/attribute potions from the Black Emporium.

I got King Something the Forgotten's armor from the Black Emporium and that was probably my only significant purchase

I only really bought gear from the Black Emporium (some nice accessories and that awesome but odd looking chantry man sister robe).
I was constantly broke/ saving up to buy stuff though... those Emporium accessories and talent/ attribute books don't come cheap..... neither do the normal vendor talent/ attribute books.

I don't remember making any significant gear purchases, but I definitely dropped a lot of money on runes, potions, poisons, and attribute upgrades.

I bought plenty but specifically for equipment, not so much.

I bought potions, healing kits, stuff like that.... not so much with the armor... I bought weapons, amulets,....
I don't think I even really invested in new gear till I fought the Arishok....I didn't even get my first game over until then either... I hardly ever died

Half way through the game I accidently learned about armor upgrades for companions, spent an hour trying to get them. Also bought the + points books or smth- they were not even books as in DA:O, just straight up upgrades... Also potions, recipes.
Equipment? No, useless mostly.

Once back from the deep roads I dumped a ton of cash on something but don't remember what all I bought. All I know is I went from around 80 to less then 10 pretty dam quick. If I bought gear I will blame it on late night drinking.

bought some potions and posions but other than that it kinda defeated the whole idea of money on this game half the stuff i found was 10x better than that sold in shops

I think I would have liked to see some items that really stood out from the rest. Something that shouted "I'm way better than anything else in the game, buy me!" or at least something that said "You won't replace me for a few years."
A lot of the mage weapons specialized in +%fire damage. But the fire spells don't pack much of a punch since they don't have any cross-class bonuses.
