The first Witcher crashed every single 30 minutes on CUE.
And that was the "re-mastered" edition, on a premium computer.
It was also a CRAP STORY compared to anything I've played (yes I've played some good games).

This whole forum is a trainwreck, between the wangsting elitists and image spammers.
Now, I'm sure Bioware knew they had a limited time frame to develop DA2. They probably weren't trying to make an "OMGepic masterpiece" like DA:O or BG2; they wanted to make a decent game with the resources they had. I think people should just appreciate what they have get rid of this entitlement complex.
if you read a bit more than the hate threads you`ll see bioware had little to do with the end result sold at stores, and as for entitlment complex, well thats just a natural reaction to people taking money for a product.
you see when people earn thier money they tend to put value on it,and where it goes, and when someone picks thier pocket by any means, even if its just by mislabeling a game, they get angry.
sorry but thats just the real world we live in when we leave our parents safe zone behind and venture out into the world.
ps..thanks to the OP for listing the problems, now if everyone can link this thread when those claiming theres no problem,we can stop the argueing,as its pretty hard to hold a point when a list like thats in plain sight.
This was well-spoken. I'd love to see age distributions for those who think DA2 is great and those who think it stinks.
I'm 30 years old and I don't have my head so far up my ass that I see a good game with flaws.
Maybe it's we should take a poll on how many people flame this game flame about every thing on this earth.
Super nerd flamers should start an internet gang and wear capes.
Sorry couldn't resist. Felt this thread needed some voices from the other side of the fence. There's some solid complaints I agree with. Most of them however are just people crying.

BioWare deserves to be trashed.
You know the biggest way I can criticize DA 2 is by copping to the fact that although I'm still going through Act 1, I really don't even feel like playing it anymore. When Origins came out I was obsessed with it. I played Origins exclusively for months with different playthroughs and experimenting with different builds. I even stopped my WoW subscription which is very rare for another game to pull me away like that.
In DA 2 so much stuff has been dumbed down and streamlined that I have no emotional connection to the characters, the plot or anything in the game for that matter so I could not care any less what happens to Hawke. Combined with the fact I've been feeling huffy about the cheesy/contrived AI tactics I'm not even going to bother finishing it.
If you actually played DA: O multiple times then you are probably borderline retarded. I liked DA: O but its not worth playing more than once if you do all the side quests on your first playthrough. I mean it took me 60 hours to do 1 playthrough on hard my first time playing and by the time I was done I was glad it was over.
You want a game that reuses the same scenario over and over? DA : O. Hello the mobs have no AI and the only thing that makes them more difficult is increased numbers - just like DA 2. I think the only fights I really enjoyed in DA: O were the high dragons. Even the final boss was disappointing and convoluted.
If you wanted a hard rpg thats going to actually challenge you as far as gameplay goes then you are going to have to go back to NWN or even further. Frankly speaking Bioware at this point is more about trying to tell stories than it is about trying to give people like you your ultimate nerd experience. The amount of DA 2 hate is very obvious trolling. Not even final fantasy 13 which is a absolutely terrible game got the kind of user reviews DA 2 did.

It has nothing to with a nerd experience it has to do with gamers wanting to play an RPG not a hack and slash action game that's garbage.
Our criticisms are legitimate. We bought the game, it was 60 bucks and quite frankly this game isn't worth 30. If you can't sit and soak up atmosphere in an RPG and willing to spend a lot of time with it than an RPG isn't for you.
Since you didn't like Origins that much and from what I can tell, like Dragon Age 2 for what it is perhaps you should just stop playing RPGs in general.
Because one thing is for certain. You can't think like a general and fight like a Spartan in DA2. Spartans use tactics and Generals have to plan strategy. Something that Bioware decided to omit entirely from Dragon Age 2!
Blood Frenzy, Taunt, Run into a mob, Tornado = everything dead and blows into a billion pieces. Now that's how Spartans fight and that's tactical!

This statement is hilarious because FF13 has a higher average professional critic rating than DA2.
Are you saying that professional gaming journalists are trolling too?

Since I detest FF13s gameplay, the core of what makes a game; I'd say they are fools, trolls, or art crtitics.

But I am having fun and do not regret spending the money on this game.
I think perhaps people are just so biased against EA that they are coming up with groundless prejudiced opinions. Hey I don't like EA's business practices either but this is not a case of another poor EA pbulication.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like the Witcher. Curious.
To be honest, the only thing I can say about DA2 is this:
Good:
Combat system. Yeah, I know it's the fashionable thing to moan about how hack and slash it is, and how tactics are dead etc, but I never found that to be the case. To be honest the combat is what is keeping me playing. Playing as a Mage was pretty interesting.
Dialogue. MAss Effect's speech system worked well.
Bad:
Bland party. Varric and Merrill were well done, but Carver and Avelline were about as wooden as pegs. Please Bioware, you're the guys who came up with classics like Garrus, Sten and HK-47. You can do better than that.
City. Kirkwall is an interesting place, but it's not nearly detailed enough to justify setting the entire game here. The developers talk about how Dragon Age is about the world, not any one character. Clearly not, it's apparently about one city. I got bored of the place early on in the game and it acted as a big fat negative on the gameplay from there. Again, Bioware, you're the people who came up with Ilos, Illium and the Deep Roads. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS.
That's pretty much the long and short. DA2 would have made a fantastic game if it took a few more cues from it's predecessor and kept it's combat system.

After you get about 16-20 hours into the game assuming you're doing side quests, you'll notice all the same maps used over and over and the stupid looting system, as well as pointless side quests.
Oh I just found some dirty trousers, better take it to this bum in the docks. Hey sir did you lose these? Don't lose them again. +300 exp + 50 silver, move on I got like 10 more of these to do.

But yeah, DA2 is not without issues. But I didn't expect all that much from a RPG that had such a short development time. So on the whole my impression is positive. DA2 probably would have benefited from another year of development to add more scale to it.

So how can you prevent this from ever happenining to you again? It's simple really. Great games take at least a good 2.5-3.5 years to develop. You can tell from the poor previews on the website and magazines that this game needed a tons more work to it.
There are much better games out there that cost way less. Play those instead I say. Or just keep giving your money away for an inferior product. No skin off my back.
Did check your thread and lolled as it got filled with 1337 kiddies yelling "ignore the troll and gief me mah game NOW!"
Some just don't get it that good stuff takes time to make. However EA is very happy with its new DA fans. Quick releases, mass sales, good money!
(I actually don't care of that cycle. It means more games for me from el cheapo bin I can lol at and play casually. For serious gaming I have other games.)

I think there are some legitimate complaints inside the sea of 'kneejerk reaction to change' complaints. I think you'll have a better understanding when you've run through the same cave system for the 8th time. On the one hand, you can dismiss them 'well, they just didn't have enough time'. But, on the other hand you have to ask, 'why didn't they set aside enough time to make more than 1 cave?'

Uh no... I just hated The Witcher, because it was utter crap and repetitive, and almost exactly what you hated about this game, just... less fast.
I still remember the poor level balancing and the fact that stupid plant killed me so many times... la sigh.
In any case, EA games aren't my fav.

I had one problem though it just happened once, I was heading to the viscount keep and the loading has always been really fast except for the one time I was heading to vicsount keep it was loading and loading. What i'm trying to say is that for 10 minutes it was stuck on the loading screen, and the little thing on the bottom that shows that its loading and the little information it gives you on the loading screen changes to something new but it never does.
So I had to completely exit the game and reload and I went back to the viscount keep again and no problems.

Neither did I. Good story, boring combat, lots of MMO/fetch quests. Pretty but mediocre.
Doesn't mean that DA2 doesn't have it's lion share of problems. I was in London for a while and tried the game on a friend's 360, now I'm back home and playing it on my PC. It's... wow, difficult to get through even the start of the game twice. Waiting to finish to post final thoughts. (Loving my auto-attack though. Gah, that was horrible).

I have played every bioware game lovingly over the last 10 years or so but this is the first time I had to uninstall an anticipated game I payed 60$ for, because it was so boring.
You can do better bioware, please do better.
(note: I know fallout isn't a bioware franchise, I just mentioned it as an example to an incredible RPG game).
