Depends on what you want to do. A good starting place is

and these threads

http://social.biowar...7/index/6416767
to work for me, but i really don't know what i'm doing... could you summarize the topic for me so i could understand better?

All characters in DA2, except for monsters, have a morph(it says how they should look). These morphs are stored in .mor and .mop files. NPCs have .mor and presets that you see in the character creator are .mop. Inside the .mor files we can change hair color, hair style, skin color, etc with pyGFF. We can then take that modded .mor file, package it into a .erf. When we place the .erf in the \\patch directory, we tell the game to use .erf. This causes the game to load the modded .mor files.
PS
.mor and .mop files are found in face.erf, which can be extracted using the pyGFF. There is also a project here
http://social.biowar...m/project/4303/
which has all the .mor files with human readable names, to facilitate modding.
That is the gist of it and most of the extent to which character modding has come. There is also item modding, but that is in other threads that you can look around for. The Staff of Parlathan thread is a good one for that.

Ok, thanks, but (if you know) how do we change the insides of .mor files(hair color, hair style, skin color, etc.)? lol.
PS: I know how to mod items and how to put mods in the correct spot.

BTW... I'm wanting to mod this (to be specific about what I'm trying to do) z_7b67ae792bb877b6.mop ("hm_iconicmale_nomark.mop")
I know how to get there in pyGFF, just don't know what to do after that.

Why are you trying to mod the .mop file? If you want to change how Hawke looks Thought Process put up a .xml file to enable editing Hawke in character creator.

Well, I guess that's shows you how new to modding I am... I thought that if i edited that file I would have more choices to choose from, how do I do that?
Also, I've been trying this mod over and over again, but just don't completely understand it. The save game editor (http://social.biowar...7/index/6462779)
@0 - 5 refers to each individual stat / 6 - 18 respond to special stats.; when I get here, I dont know what value to put in to the modifier... I put in a number under 100, but it dosent change my game.
what would be a good value to put in?

Shameless bump so the links in the 2nd post aren't hidden down on the 16326'th page, as people are still looking around for how to mod the game without official tools. A "DA2 modding resources" sticky post might be a good thing... just sayin!

Here's another thread that should also be considered as part of a set of stickied how to mod links.
