At first, i thought that Bioware wasn't doing same-sex relationships due to the fear of bad publicity, which really pissed me off.
But what if it's more of a story-driven concept? What if they want the LI sidequests to end with Shepard or his/her LI having a child? I know its off the wall speculation, but it  wouldn't be unheard off, and i can't say it'd be a totally bad thing, if done well.

Thoughts?

Or they could simply have better things they're working on with that time, unrelated to LIs entirely.

Maybe in ME:3 it could be fit in to one of the LI endings, but right now would not be the time.

just a thought. they don't really seem to have any problem with the whole same sex thing in any other games, so why now? @Ballz, yeah, I meant as the end, in the middle of the whole ****storm would be distracting from the main story and pointless

Not to hate or anything, but if there were same sex romance in ME3, I wouldn't buy the game. I'm not spending $60 for that.

I just don't want them to go out of their way to make it seem like and equal rights movement. the best gay characters are the ones that don't make being gay the reason they're in the game. It should be treated like a simple characteristic, like Zaeed being crazy or Samara being old

For them to put a character in the game that is most identifiable due by their sexual orientation, it'd be pretty amatuer.

Oh wait, isn't that Kelly?

You do understand that if anyone tries to look this up later they won't be able to find it because hey, the point of your topic isn't in the subject line.

Golly.

Ah, what's the point?  Even if you do learn your lesson there's 10 million more who can't, or don't care, or who do it on purpose.

Weeeeeee (clutches at wasted moments that are gone forever and fails).

Let's see here. A total of nine (not counting the non-paramour ones) romances in the game.
Kaidan, Ashley, Liara, Jack and Jacob you can have kids with. Tali, Garrus, Thane are aliens and Miranda's infertile. I doubt they exclude same-sex romances because of the impossibility of kids.
Besides, adoption and ****.
Agreed on that though, gay/bi characters that have personalities defined by the fact that they're gay/bi is extremely annoying.

Also Volus, is there a specific reason you don't want same-sex romances? As far as I know, we non-straight people are just that, PEOPLE too. Don't particularly see a reason to why Bioware should exclude same-sex romances from ME3. I won't nerdrage if they don't have it of course though. And if they have same-sex romances, why would that justify you not buying the game? You have a choice not to romance them, it's not like Bioware's gonna force you to do that.

And in the end, the romances are a very small part of the game. You're not paying the 60 bucks for that, you're paying for the whole game which INCLUDES romances.

Eh, I seriously doubt anybody would care to look it up later.
had i been seriously trying to get a topic across, i would have, but i'm more or less striking up conversation on shaky speculation that people wouldn't care too much about. but, I suppose there is always somebody who may care, so i'll do it for them.
My apologies

Crap, forgot about the non-compatible alien romances. Infertile conditions aren't 100% though. It wouldn't be unheard of for Miranda to have a baby, even with the infintismally small chance of her concieving (pretty sure i butchered that, but oh well)

Yea sure, Miranda might still have a small chance of getting a baby, I think the note in the SB's base was Bioware's way of saying that she won't be able to get pregnant. Biololgically, she could still have a baby yes, but from a storytelling pov? No.

I doubt cross-species children are possible, so it'd really only be possible for Kaidan, Ashley, Jack, Jacob, Liara, and maybe Miranda (miracles do happen). Thane/Tali/Garrus fans would be straight outta luck.

Well I am sure that the lack of your $60 won't matter bioware. But why would you not buy the game if there were same sex romances? Would you feel compelled to do it or something?

Could always end like BG, BG2/ToB, Jade Empire, KOTOR, and pretty much every other Bioware game that had an end: Text telling us what happens to each NPC. Above statement makes sense if Bioware follows through on this. Shep + Miri: Miri's loyalty through the reaper attack blah blah blah, they adopted an orphan from a certain street gang and are raising him/her on X.

Can’t be, you can’t have kids with some of the LI’s anyway so that’s not why there is no SS relationships.
Miranda can’t have kids.
Aliens (aside form Asari) + human can’t have kids (so that Garrus, Thane an Tali out)

Doesn't seem very likely. Shep physically couldn't have a child with Garrus, Thane, or Tali. And we learned in LOSB that Miranda is unable to conceive a child.

I don't know if BioWare would be willing to put that much work into the LI sidequest but it would be an interesting ending for the LIs where it is possible though.

TC: AH yes "Same Sex LIs in Bioware games" we have dismissed this claim!
Shepard: BUT DRAGON AGE II HAS IT!
TC: This isn't Dragon Age II Shepard!

This issue doesn't bother me based on the politics of gay/straight, but it pisses me off that anyone straight, gay, black, white, blue, green, whatever have the nerve to tell a storyteller that he/she/they should have done XY and Z in THEIR story. It's this typical selfish modern western idea that you're god and that everything should suit your taste. F* off and write your own video game!

These 3 posts were posted AFTER my own post, saying the EXACT same things. Would you people PLEASE read the thread before you post?

Duffy, don't rage about us suggesting things to the developers. They have said themselves that they want us to suggest things for Mass Effect 3 so they know what the community wants. And this is far from demanding things, a simple suggestion does not mean demanding things.
