Nearly a year ago, I made this video and post. I had little to no direction in my life and awful self-esteem. Then I started seeing the community's reaction to something that I thought was just a fun video for people to glance at.

These forums.. this post.. is what changed my life. This is the spark that made me choose video production as my passion.

A year later, I've taught myself After Effects and even music production programs such as FL Studio 9. Since I was trying to learn at a breakneck pace, I haven't done many ambitious projects like this. However, OCremix asked me to make them a music video (my draft of this is on my YouTube channel) I also have a a whole bunch of small projects on there and also a couple original songs. I'm still a newb with music production, though :P

Anyway, back to the point! I just really wanted to thank this community for sparking the burning passion I have in me now, this insatiable hunger to improve my videos constantly. I'm halfway through my media production degree and I even live with a friend who pays me to help him with his videos.. can it get any better?? Being paid to do what you're passionate about? Being paid to have fun!?

All thanks to the reaction here, no exaggeration. You are all awesome and epicly epic. OK, I'm out of adjectives. I guess I'm done :]

Original Post...

I put my all into this as a cinematic attempt to portray the excitement and emotion of Dragon Age as a whole. Enjoy my tribute, In Paradisum.

Spoilers galore.

Wow, that was, really, really good.  Very good timing, especially the part during the crowning of Harrowmount.  I especially liked the part where your character killed the archdemon while on fire.

Man, your character coupled with this video has given me the inspiration to make a martyr. I usually play selfish, conniving, greedy characters, but... I gotta try this out.

See, that's what any 'artist' loves to hear. We thrive on inspiring ourselves and others. Thanks for that comment.

I realize calling this art is questionable, but I originally turned to video because I failed at becoming a 'drawing' artist. Some people just don't have the artist's touch ;)

EDIT: The song is Requiem for a Tower. I believe it was made known by its use in an LotR trailer.

Actually, it was made by its use in Requiem for a Dream, lols. Good movie - sad too. :( I really need to finish watching it.

I think it's the armor of dilligence set.  Probably wrong, though.

Ah, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up.

Do yuo mean Allister or my main's armor? Allister had Juggernaut armor, I believe. And my main wore a full set of studded light armor.. I think. And a Grey Warden's shield.

Nicely done! I thoroughly enjoyed that! And YES it is definitely an art form. It takes an artistic eye to edit that stuff! And then setting it to music in a meaningful way is a whole other deal. You did a great job and totally captured the energy of the game!

I'm in shock that my first cinematic attempt went over so well. I spent 60 hours on getting the footage, 2 hours on finding a fitting song, and 7 hours of non-stop editing.

It was just that once I started, I couldn't stop. While making it the thought going through my mind was "I have to make myself want to cry. I have to get myself excited or no one else will." :)

It would just make it perfect if right before "Where will your decisions take you?" you had the Grey Warden's Motto.

"In Peace, Vigilance. In War, Victory. In Death, Sacrifice."

But overall an excellent presentation.

That would have been a good addition. I could re-render it, but nah. I'll add it to the first post though :)

I really enjoyed watching that, it was very well done and everything seemed well placed.

Your PC on fire was a little silly, but otherwise it was excellent!
