comments on the video itself, what I thought could be changed (call it constructive criticism or workshoping for videos =
Well suggestions anyways, if you want more song in the epic category Iit'll depend if you want wordless or not.
For wordless I think Celldweller's Ursa Minor or any of its remixes would work well, or one of the songs by E.S Posthumous (though pompei is commonly used) Also take a look at other soundtracks (as Im sure you already are) Like 300, gladiator, etc,
If you dont mind words Veigar's Eternal Empire definitely comes to mind (but is also very recognizable, so one of the less known songs may be necesarry)
Stuff by Nightwish/within temptation are also both suitable and recognizable, (End of all hope, What have you done, Forsaken, in particular seem to be widely used for that reason) So I dunno how much help that is.I geuss I could suggest more but I think I've filled enoguh space on the page. Just trying to give ideas anyhow XD everyone has thier preferences, and these may not be suitable for what you want to do, in which case to each thier own. =)
Bottom line though: Fun video and keep up the good work.=D

I thought it was pretty well done, I liked the cutting on the beginning where you kinda set up the loghain confrontation. It had a sort of narrative to it that I enjoyed and would definitely encourage for future videos.
comments on the video itself, what I thought could be changed (call it constructive criticism or workshoping for videos =I think not using Bann wolf;s "Will you let all of fereldn fall for fear of orleis?" was a missed opportunity, as its a pretty telling line. Though you may think the quotes you had painted the picture pretty well so hem. I was kinda expecting some of the major musical... for lack of a better term "booms" to coinside with action It worked with Bhelen's crowning (you had the big "ahhhh" sound effect) But that may just be a stylistic choice. Also for connssistency I'd ask you to have your character wearing the same items in each of the shots used if possible. ( looked like an arcane warrior, in one shot he's in a mage robe and the rest he's in leather) It might be worth it for your next video to do a playthrough simply to get the kind of shots you want with the character in relatively similer armor. (I understand different parts of the game the armor may not be availeble. just a suggestion) Er.. anyways before I start just listing off more scenes I wanna see used Ill switch to music =b

Ok, I love thorough criticism
About the change of armor. I was aiming to show his progress in becoming an Arcane Warrior. I was hoping it would be understood that he was a mage turned warrior. So I'm not really sure what to think about this feedback honestly.
Thank you for your suggestions on epic music. I really need to figure out where to find this music and you've hlped steer me in the right direction. I prefer wordless music but I'll look into everything you mentioned. Thanks again.
You gave me some new things to think about and improve on, and I appreciate that. Don't think just ebcause I rebutted your suggestions that I'm not still thinking them over

I apologize if I'm kinda all over the place. its late and I'm half asleep.
with the arcane warrior thing, That'd need a bit more set up.(in my opinion) It might distract from the video itself though. since its one scene in mage armor the next in leather, at least for me it seemed sudden enough to seem like two different characters. I dunno, something to show that he is indeed switching armors *shrug* Might be an overdone idea but you could always do the "Fadeaway shot" of character in one armor fading into a shot of the same character with the new armor with a clear view of the face. (I geuss you sorta did that but meh) You don't actually see him casting though so I think thats it. I suppose if you wanted you could show a progression of either fancier lookign armor weaps with fancier more visually stunning spells. (again that might take too long and take away from the story, would be a judgment call) Since its a short format, My thought is have him start as AW from the start and show that he's a spellcaster rather than having his appearance change and maybe leave watcher's wondering if its just someone upgrading from a dress to leather. =b Thats not to say you CAN"T have the transition to AW and the story, if you can pull it off more power to you. With short formats like this video though my thought is some might be able to get a better feel for the character if they know what he is from the start, and changing that role, (from caster to semi tankcaster) either assumes the audience will recognize it without you tellign them. (Iceburg theory.. what you dont see is importanta s what you do. XD) or you spend time on it, which could enable you to show growth of the character fi you wanted. But that'd asume that being AW would change the character enough to warrant that extra time spent. (short version: the way I would do it is either show the transition from mage to aw, maybe a change in the spells eh casts, from long range fireballs to close range cones and what not.. or have him start out as AW/plain warrior and focus on story) Though if the video isn't supposed to be a story video its moot. Show what you think is cool.
with the extra lines being eaten by music, I guess its a trade off, you wont be able to get everything in, so you'd have to save the other great lines for the sequel. XD I guess to get some of them to fit you'd almost have to break them apart so the first part would be before whatever part of the song would overwhelm it, and the 2nd part would after as a sort of "nail in the coffin" statement. assuming you're not already planning on doing it, I dunno if it'd work to have something like "The south has fallen" Boom~scenes of stuff dying o.o~"will you let ferelden fall for fear of orlais?" Would that be a cliche thing though? Meh. I guess when in doubt put explosions and loud noises on the 3rd beat of the song o.o or some other random arbitrary effect for coolness.
Also with the music: the stuff from Veigar, I believe most of the words in it are in Latin if any, so that may or may not matter if you don't want to deal with lyrics during your video (Keep the dragonage singalong a minimum though is my suggestion, I dunno if people could stand Alistair lip synched to the macarana..XD) Another music act to look at would Be apocalyptica. some of their songs take a more epic feel rather than rock, though Ig euss that is a relative term. they may lean too far towards contemporary rock though. I think Hope and Path, or Worlds Collide might be suitable. It seems though like you're leaning towards epic symphonic music over the "epic" sounding metal/rock genre, (a lot of the rock music types are more common so you may want the more instrumental versions like ES posthumous, Veigar, and the like, in the end its up to personal preference though.) As with before, take what I say witha grain of salt, heed/ignore/throwtomatoes at your leisure.

For the character progression thing, I was orignally planning to do a faded time lapse of my party running through all the different scenery at a cinematic angle. I think that would have been great, but I think the issue was that I had to cater to the flow of the song and couldn't fit it in. You had some good ideas too.
I know what you mean by the cinematic dialogue thing
I love rock music. My Modern Warfare 2 montage uses Industrial Rock in fact. I REALLY love combinations of classic music and rock, but there are so few artists who do that. And most are big names that would nail me for a copyright infringement. I use rock music for FPS games, classical for RPGs, etc. I just think certain video game genres are complimented most by certain music genres.
I saw you mentioned a 'sequel' =P I WANT to, but I am so afraid of disappointing my 'fans', you know? I think instead I'll just wait for Mass Effect 2 and let that be the 'spiritual sequel'.
Thanks to the new viewers for the feedback by the way.

My only criticism (very minor) was the ending part, with your PC in flames. I thought this looked a bit comical and anticlimactic in an otherwise very dramatic presentation. If I could change just one thing about the video, it would be to rework that part.
The only other thing that detracted from the visuals was the repeated use of Shale in various cutscenes, but that's not really your fault.
When I play the game "lore-ishly", I tend not to use Shale, because it just seems too wacky to me to have this unique, one-of-a-kind giant golem stomping about and yet not one of the NPCs in any of the various cut scenes says diddly-boo about it. It just seems too surreal, in my opinion. While I think Shale is a cool, useful, and funny NPC, she does not "look right" in the DA:O story, imo, in any scene with human, dwarven, and elf bystanders becuase no one responds to her the way I think they realistically should. People should be quaking or pointing or staring or *something* every time they see her, and they don't. It's just "Oh, there's a giant golem over there. Oh well, whatever ...".
Very nice work on the video, though. I very much enjoyed it.

That was the most badass thing I've ever seen. I would love to attempt something like that, but I don't have that creater's skillset
But you know.. I'm headed toward that path in college now. 3D modeling and animation are possibilities for me. I've self-taught myself pretty thoroughly on editing and cinematics so honestly I don't even think I need a college education for those areas. The other thing is that since making this video, I've learned a lot more.. I haven't made any videos using everything I've learned up to this point. What's stopping me at the moment is a lack of a truly inspiring idea. I'm ready to do a big project though.. one that would take months to complete. I mean this video took me one night to put together.. what could I do in a month or more? =O
Sorry, I'm rambling now.

Yeah I get that a lot. I agree too.
I'm betting you're pretty into LotR lore. LotR's lore has been borrowed from in every modern RPG, which some people like and some are annoyed by. Personally, I like breaking away from that lore and was glad that BioWare did at least one unique thing in DA:O, the golems. Cause you know.. the elves were similar to Indians and favored bows, the dwarves were gruff and used heavy armor, and the mages were all about knowledge and tradition.. that's been done so many times. But I've never seen lore about dwarves turning into super tank golems. Anyway, to each his/her own on that matter. I know where you're coming from, but I see it differently. The only other thing that detracted from the visuals was the repeated use of Shale in various cutscenes, but that's not really your fault.
