Dog.. always.. dies. Playing as a 2H warrior and unless dog decides to run off and attack a different target, friendly fire from regular swipes of my blade bring him down in seconds. Has anyone found a way to mitigate that damage?

Dog is immune to fire. Buy the sword from Black Emporium and you cant hurt him (or anything else immune to fire). Other than that, the Dog, much like your melee companions, is just getting in the way of your mighty 2hander.

or you could reposition so you dont hit the dog... that is possible.

The dog is awesome for eating up backstabs by those insane back flipping templar hunters

I used him for eating backstabs, tanking Pride demons when there were other enemies around, and soaking High Dragon fireballs in the dragonling phase.

Dog is amazing, unless you love to go hardcore cleave mode on Nightmare. Then he's pointless.

Yeah, I saw dog as basically a little extra crowd control. He runs off and distracts something. That's his role.

Question: Does dog actually scale with hawke? because i find that dog gets beaten to **** even if i try and use him wisely, and not to mention that his damage is beyond bad.

I'm pretty sure he scales. Even by the time I got to the High Dragon fight he could take quite a few hits before going down.

Lol, I've never even noticed the dog dying. He can be kind of annoying though, he draws more aggro then my tank and is harder to manage. I'll think everything is dead but have to try and hunt down the damn dog because he's off fighting something all the hell over on the otherside of town, lol.
At least I can switch to other party members to get an idea as to where they wondered off to in battle but the dog can play a real game of hide and seek if he's found more enemies that aren't showing up on the map - not until you are right on top of them of course. Ugh, I hate that. That's gotta be a glitch.

Yes, I couldn't believe just how beastly he can be at times. During the final Forgotten tomes quest fight, he was literally holding a Revenant and two fire elementals at bay (haha, didn't know he was fire immune until reading this thread) by himself for a LOOOONG time.

Yeah, there's no possible way that he doesn't scale. And who cares if the dog dies or that it has pathetic damage? It's free CC.
