I posted this on another thread, here, but I decided to give it it's own thread. This was taken from my official collector's guide.

It's a list of all the actions that may cause a companion to leave the party.

Bold Text = Quest Name

Varric has no crisis points.

Aveline: Crisis Points
  • If you do not secure a complete friendship or rivarly with Aveline, there is a chance (though small) that she will leave the party during The Last Straw.
 Anders: Crisis Points
  • If Hawke is less than understanding in the closing dialogue of Dissent, Anders will offer to leave the party. Accepting this will remove him from the game until the events of The Last Straw.
  • In the aftermath of the Chantry's destruction, you can exact immediate retribution by killing Anders on the spot. If you send him away and side with Orsino, you can re-recruit him later - or fight him if you opt to serve the knight-commander's cause.
Merrill: Crisis Points
  • If you do not achieve 100% friendship or rivalry before The Last Straw and side with the templars, Merrill will leave the party. If she is a rival, but not at 100% on that side of the scale, you must fight her.
Isabela: Crisis Points
  • Isabela is unique in that you must secrue 50% friendship or rivalry and complete her Questioning Beliefs mid-stage relationship conversation before the end of Act 2 if you wish to retain her as a companion. This should ideally be achieved before you begin Following the Qun.
  • If you fail to help Isabela first when she and Aveline arrive at the Hawke Estate after Following the Qun, she leaves the party permanently - no matter what the current state of your relationship may be.
  • Even if you complete To Catch a Thief, Isabela will only make her timely return during Demands of the Qun if you have satisfied the requirements detailed earlier. While handing her to the Arishok enables you to resolve the Qunari crisis without furthur bloodshed, this will lead to her permanent departure.
Fenris: Crisis Points
You will permanently lose Fenris as a companion if you...
  • Fail to complete Bail and Switch.
  • Refuse to journey to the Slaver Camp after the second Tevinter Ambush in A Bitter Pill
  • Substitue Fenris from the party after the first ambush that triggers A Bitter Pill then fail to resume the quest. After a certain period of time, the outraged elf will confront Hawke and leave.
  • Allow Danarius to take him during the Alone companion quest.
Unless you complete his companion quests, reach 100% friendship or rivalry and complete his final-stage relationship conversation, Fenris will abandon the party after the destruction of the chantry if you support Orsino. He can be persuaded to rejoin during the negotiations at the Gallows if you have a solid frienship with him. If Fenris does not return to the fold, those siding with mages must fight him at the Templar Hall.

Sebastian: Crisis Points
  • If you do not kill Anders following the destruction of the Chantry, Sebastian will leave the party permanently.
Carver and Bethany: Crisis Points
  • It is purely your choice of class that governs which sibling survives to reach Kirkwall: Carver if Hawke is a mage, or Bethany for rogues and warriors.
  • If you refuse to take them on the Deep Roads Expedition, Bethany will be forcefully recruited to the Circle, while Carver will voluntarily join the templars on your return.
  •  Take Bethany or Carver to the Deep Roads with Anders in the party and you have the choice of sending them to the Grey Wardens or allowing them to die. If Anders is not present, death is unavoidable.
Feel free to discuss Companions and their Crisis points here. Also ask any questions you like ^_^

You can convince her to join and fight with you, just like you can with Carver if he joins the templars.

And thank you, hopefully it will help alot of people.

She sides with Orsino, no matter what. However, after Orsino-Harvester is killed, Meredith tries to kill Bethany. You can either let her or stop her. If she is stopped, Bethany rejoins you.

Also I'm planning to do a romance guide as well, but it's late at the moment, so I'll probably do it tomorrow.

Like I said, it's the same with Carver, apart from replace Orsino with Meredith. If you side with Orsino, Carver will be against you until just before the end boss fight with her where he rejoins you.

What's the easiest way to gain rivalry with Isabela?

I have good information from my boyfriend's playthrough that Fenris was at +20 rivalry, had neither A Bitter Pill or Alone done, and stayed without debate when his Hawke sided with the mages. He's going to redo this now to get better data, but yeah.

Weird, isn't it?

Use aggressive options and never pick a flirt option. Isabela is by far the hardest to get full rivalry or friendship will (friendship is easier than Rivalry with her).

Also, in side/secondary quests, pick the mean options.

Could be a glitch or my guide might be wrong. I got this from the official collector's guide by Piggyback which tends to rarely be wrong. I suspect its an error with the companion flags in the game.

Just had a re-read. The guide never states that you must have done A Bitter Pill or Alone, just that if you do start A Bitter Pill, you complete it within a certain time frame and that you don't give Fenris up in Alone.

As for the Rivalry at 20+, I'm not sure.

Cool guide, guess I know who I can make a rival off. Quick question, what do you mean by final-stage relationship conversation with Fenris? Do I have to romance him?

i want to make a playthrough with templar sides options whole time. i plan to make my team: Me (rogue) Fenris (Tank) Sebastian (archer) and Merril (healer, thx to a mod). I think ill be very rivalry with merril, so ill ask: when i have her at 100% rivalry, she will stay when i side the templars? I dont understand, why does she side me when she hates me?

It's because though you disagree with her, you have earned her respect. That's essentially what max rivalry means. You've let her see and understand your side of the argument.

Kind of irksome that there literally is no way to keep all of the party members for your post-campaign file, since you're either losing Anders or Sebastian, at the very least.

I read that if you wait with installing the Exiled Prince DLC till after choosing a side and keeping Anders, Sebatian will automatically show up in the Gallows Prison. Posted Image

Chosen Templar side: When you encounter Bethany and Orsino you could be able to turn her against Orsino if you have the "Star option: Quentin killed our mother"(Need to do something before this i think, like investigate or read a letter in "The Killers Lair", or just by Orsino mentioning it, dunno from where i activated it from), and yet have Meredith kill her after Orsino/Harvester is defeated.

When Orsino mentions the research, you have to investigate it, and then you'll discover it was Quentin. From there mention it and Bethany will join you.
