Why did DA2 felt like couples of DLC put together, not one game?

I have qualms with the way the "ten years of Hawke's life" was executed, but how is it that the three acts are any different than the "visit five areas and resolve the subplots" build that DAO and even ME/KOTOR had?

Because they were all related to a single purpose. DA:O was uniting people to stop the Blight, ME was to gather resources to stop Saren, and in KOTOR the point was to find the Star Forge to stop Malak. Lots of stopping in Bioware games! The point is, however, like I made in my earlier post—we don't even know what purpose DA2 is building up to until the very end of the game.

Exactly my point.

Just to add also that the actual purpose of DA2 ending doesn't even come up before the last act and doesn't play any part whatsoever before. Unlike all the games you mentioned where the "finale" is very much anticipated.

Well, technically you already know the ending - All the events to do with the Champions past has put everything into Chaos including the Chantry.

The only thing is, not one piece of the Champion's story has plunged the world in to Chaos, or even put the Chantry in to ruins because it's all Anders' doing.

The mage vs templar conflict was there from the first act, but due to the frame of the story 'ten years" it was a very slow build up that boiled over in the finale and I preferred it that way. There was so much set up from the get go, the difference is that it wasn't bludgeoned over our heads.

The visiting "five areas"  is just a device to add fluff to the game, same with the three acts.

This just in: Bioware and EA announce the grand continuation to their epic hack n' slash roleplayer DA2!

Now, for just 15 bucks more, you can finally play the ending this game would have truly deserved but did not get! Depending on your decisions in DA2 you trigger two of the scenarii below:

Using your influence after the genocide of all mages from the city's Circle of Magi you climb to the top of Kirkwalls political caste when you get crowned Viscount of the lands of Kirkwall! But there are too much problems to count plaguing the city state which once again lies in ruins after your last face-off with those pesky mages. Can you inspire it's citizens to follow you torwards a grander future or will you die trying?

-or- (and this is my favourite option)

After slaying homocidal Templar-Commander bitc* Meredith and preventing a brutal Magi genocide you, former Champion of Kirkwall, make a daring escape from vengeful Templar extremists by venturing out onto the open seas with your faithful and somewhat pretty hot companion Isabel to sucumb to the wickedly awesome life of a pirate! YARRRR!!!

But seriously? I'd be totally pissed if they did that... (Stapeling an actual ending to the main game I mean)

Not quite sure what the point of this game was either.

Feels like a lucky packet of good ideas thrown together without any sense attached.

I almost get the impression that DA2 was a compromise between three different execs who wanted their own ideas in the game and all won the argument.

One day at the DA2 Brainstorm:

Exec 1: "Hey, lets kill Hawke's mother!"
Exec 2: "No, lets rather wipe out a Dalish Village".
Exec 3: "Yeah, but I want an epic war with the Qunari!"
Exec 2: "Quanri are sooo last season! Lets have a war between the Mages and Templars!"
Pimply personal assistant: "Coooool!"

Creative Director: "Um guys... we only have so much time to get it right, lets choose one thread and make it epic."

Exec 1: "Shuddup, this is my boardroom and you know what... You're fired!'

Pimply personal assistant: "Hey Boss, do we get to change the outfits on our characters and make em sexy like in DA:O?"

Exec 2: "Only the main character!"

Pimply personal assistant: "Awww.... um.. HEY! Can we at least have Morrigan back!?

Exec 3: "We'll mention her somewhere, now go away!"

Meh...

That said, If you remove the weird broken story (which certainly feels more like DLC than an entire campaign), it still looked good and had some fun moments!

I replayed Fallout New Vegas just before I got DA 2 and it was like going from Epic Win to WTF.

Many WTF moments in DA 2!

I should have played Mario bros first so my expectations were lower!

DA:O - Your basically saving the world in comparison.
DA2 - Your just some random loser who becomes a Champ (Of just Kirkwall mind you) instead of the whole world.

Exaggerating the world bit, but you know what I mean.

I do agree with you though, the gaps in the Act's made it worse too.

Hmm, damn...You hit a nerve there I think! The main character is actually a total loser!

That's probably why I felt the entire thing a bit lame. I mean, the actual ONLY thing that separates him from pretty much any other loser in Kirkwal was that he could kill everything in sight in half a second. When you think about it, that's pretty much how you actually become the champion, kill EVERYBODY.

Part 1) Need cash, no biggy, kill couple hundred people, should do it.
Part 2) Waste everyone, sort who's right later, problem solved.
Part 3) Alright, mages..templars..ah hell, waste them all, problem solved!

This, pretty much.
