No, Alistair would not have any elven characteristics as one of the reasons why many elves don't approve of their kind breeding with other races is that elven dna is described as 'adaptable' by the developers, meaning that when an elf has an offspring with a non-elf the resulting offspring is always of the non-elf's race. So breeding with a human would give an elf a human child while breeding with a dwarf woud give a dwarf offspring. Hence just another reason for all those elves in the City Elf origin to be concerned.

That's so lame!

Wait, I remember someone saying that his Dwarf got it on with Morrigan.  So are Dwarven DNA 'adaptable' too?!

Still that's got to be the lamest excuse for not making half-elves in this world...

Sounds like just a lame excuse to me.

No, it is not a lame excuse. The common occurences you see in other fantasy games, books, etc does not carry over to a completely new IP.

It has been said time and time again that the offspring of a Human and an Elf will always produce a human child. This fits perfectly with the information we are given on the Elves and how they lost their immortality.

After beating the game and reading the books I've come to a very reasonable conclusion.

Defeat the Blight. That is your only goal as a Grey Warden. Nothing else matters other than stopping the Darkspawn.

Grey Wardens come from all races and types of people however. Some volunteer, others conscripted. A Grey Warden who was an honourable man will do things far differently than one who was a murderous mercenary. It is stated many times in the lore, both in game and in the books that the Wardens go to any lengeths nesscisary to stop the Blight. The end justify the means so to speak. I am also quite sure that it is either Duncan himself or an entry in the codex that states, "Many have a hard time swallowing the Grey Warden philosophy. Sacrifce the few to save the many."

No, dwarvern DNA is normal like humans, dunno if they are compatible with human or not, I remember reading somewhere that there are actually half-dwarves around but I cannot confirm the validity of the source.  As Chiliztri said, this fits with the information given regarding the elves, as they are being turned into what those around them are: when humanity came they became mortal just by hanging around with them, and when they breed with others they produce purebreds of the other race.  This is replicated in how the City Elves are essentially losing their culture the longer they live with humans, and that they may end up no different from the humans.
