well on my game nathanial says that the architect lived, when i killed him.  also lelianna did not refer to me as "dearest" even though i romanced her. I noticed a few posts by bioware here say that witch hunt (which i assume most people transferred their files from) does not have any "flags" and so the data is not carried over from there

does that mean if I tell it to take my completion save from awakenings it will work better?  With that being said, if witch hunt didn't contain any flags how did it know that alistair ran away when i spared loghain?  How did it know that my hero is still alive?  Is this also a fix that will be able to be patched in dragon age 2?  Or is the issue with Witch hunt?

I know it's a lot of questions but i would appreciate it :) thanks guys.

Leiliana will not call Hawke dearest and she doesnt really even mention the Warden at all when we do see her.

That isnt a flag issue.

I think when he says "me," he means his warden. I too would like to know if it's Witch Hunt that's causing the import problems. I'm on my 2nd playthrough now and using my Awakening save, but I'm nowhere near act 3.

I'll try, but I've got an exam coming up, so I'm not going to have that much time to play.

i can't even get my saved games to show up and I completed every expansion. i think that when i installed the game on my hard drive it installed over my DA data. has anyone else had this problem?

not sure, are you sure that installing the game would write over it though? I mean, the game save and the actual installed game are two different spots

once again, i'm curious about whether or not just transferring the awakening save over will fix it, i would like a dev's answer on this if possible

The Nathaniel saying the Architect lives even if you killed him glitch is known by Bioware. A while ago Luke Barrett had asked somewhere regarding this issue if anyone imported a game where you did let him live if that carried over correctly. I told him that I had spared the Architect and that Nathaniel did say so. It seems that he says this no matter what.

Nathaniel was in DAII? When?

alright, i guess it'd KINDA minor but still, i don't want the architect/the romance to come back in the third game as a major plot point.  i didn't care to much about the ME2 conrad import error but still, that was minor, while these can have more of an impact than just a simple side quest

I agree, at the moment the Architect being alive glitch is a minor issue, but it could be major since we don't know what is planned for this beyond a mere mention of it at the moment. Did anyone check to see what it said on the summary screen when you chose your save game to import? I'm curious if it says you kill him there but Nathaniel still says you spared him or if it is glitched right from the start when you choose your save data to import.

Oh, has anyone imported a save where you let the demon stay inside of Connor during the Arl of Redcliffe quest in Origins? I did and on the save data import screen when you can check the summary of your game it says I freed him from the demon when I did not.

Bobobo878: Hope I didn't spoil or am about to spoil anything for you. Sorry if I did. You can get the quest to find Nathaniel from his sister right after Act 3 begins as long as you imported a game where he is alive. Alistair will appear in this quest as well if he was still a Grey Warden in your world. And if your Sibling joined the GW they too will appear in this quest.

That's just the problem, i imported a save in which Nathaniel lived, completed every side quest i could find, and beat the game.  I can't figure out how I missed this.

From the Wiki:

"When into Act 3, go towards the Chantry, there you will find Delilah Howe. Ttalk to her, and she will plead to you to find Nathaniel, who is lost in the deep roads."

Most of the time the flag is registered correctly, it's just the conversation that has an issue. That said, we're always interested in these errors with the import plot flags and will investigate them all.

I believe Delilah has a quest icon the map right after Act 3 begins.

The strat guide says "To play this quest, you must be using an imported Dragon Age: Origins world state in which you played the Awakening expansion, recruited Nathaniel and he was not killed in the siege on Vigil's Keep. This is also available if you selected the Martyr preset world state during the initial character creation process." She is by the Chantry in Hightown

Did you get/do the quest "Fools Gold" in Act 2 because the guide says that quest is only available if you imported a save where you did not recruit Nathaniel or if he died in Awakening, or if you chose the Hero of Ferelden background.

Obviously you can't do both of those quests since one requires him to be dead and the other him to be alive. Did you get the Fools Gold quest? Are you sure he didn't die if you carried a game over into DA2? Are you sure you chose the correct save file? Are you sure you're in Act 3 (Year 7)? Other than that I don't know what else to say.

Yay! I am glad to hear that because no one else seems to have had the Save data carry over summary screen say that Connor was freed from the demon when they in fact did not do that. Sure Connor isn't in the game but the fact that the summary states my choice incorrectly is a concern to me, even if it is a small one.

ah ok, so when you were talking about how witch hunt didn't have flags you just meant our decisions from witch hunt aren't carried over.  but the flags from origins/awakening are still carried over, just not translated then?  Sounds good :) thanks for the response and I'm sure we are all eagerly waiting for the fix

Yes. Currently, nothing in the game calls on the Witch Hunt flags. As for the other ones, there are currently a few not functioning properly in either small cases or altogether; most of the time it's the conversation and not your import that is bugged BUT we'll always investigate both ends of the process to make sure.

What does that mean nothing calls on the Witch Hunt flags? Does that mean nothing involving Witch Hunt is in Dragon Age 2?

Anything involving Golems too? In another thread you also mentioned Return to Ostagar not having any flag, yet in my summary, it talks about Calian's body.

Well my import of Origins worked fine, completed and everything. It's when I import an Awakening, Golems and Witch Hunt chained save that it claims I hadn't completed Origins. And yes, I've tried the Awakening chained save by itself all the way through to Witch Hunt and still the game feeds me this lie. I hope this is amended in the expected patch.

I'm glad Bioware is looking into this considering how much this game series emphasizes building your own character and how his/her choices shape the world. I just hope a patch comes out soon. PC users have been able to correct some of the errors by unofficial patches but that is not an option for XBox 360 owners. :bandit:
