Used my Witch Hunt save after completing everything before it and Nathanial still doesn't show, really hope the patch is retroactive since I don't want to play the whole game over again just for one quest unless it will import into DA3.

From the Wiki:

"When into Act 3, go towards the Chantry, there you will find Delilah Howe. Ttalk to her, and she will plead to you to find Nathaniel, who is lost in the deep roads."

ONLY if the save importer actually registered Nathaniel was still alive at the end of Awakening.

If you erroneously get the "Fools Gold" Quest, Delilah will not spawn.

Another bloody bug in the game....

Completely agree with you.  This quest is the main issue for me as well as improper save imports.

Apparently (via here: http://social.biowar...1/index/6691810 ) I have to go back through (the end of) Awakening to ensure Nathaniel is in the active party to ensure his survival for DA2.

When I finished awakening I took justice with me to ensure his survival but with the way DA2 developed his story I'll replace him with Nathaniel to ensure his appearance in DA2. Hopefully epilogue does not change the saving of fergus.

I'm hoping that the Leliana bug and the Nathaniel bug is just a criss-cross of information in the game and not something that gets tied into our saves for future games and DLC. Hopefully the choices are carried through correctly, just the things said during the game are incorrect.

IE: Leliana may not recognize the relationship with the Warden when she should when talking, but hopefully the save does know and carry through the relationship to the next game/DLC even after we pass that point in the game.

It shouldn't. I had Nathaniel in my party when I finished Awakening and the epilogue still had him saving Fergus.

So the general consensus here is that Nathaniel mentioning the Architect being alive is a dialogue error, not an import glitch? Regardless of that conversation, does the game know the Warden killed the Architect?

Yes. You can check the imported plot flags when selecting a save to import by pressing Y. Generally, it seems the importer itself works fine - the problems arise either when DA2 mis-checks the flags (the romance glitches or the Architect glitch), or when the flags themselves were messed up in the source. whether DAO or Awakening (as seems to be the case with the elusive Nathaniel).

If I'm not mistaken, the only large transfer bug from ME1 to ME2 was conrad verner, but with Origins to DAII, it seems like a TON of flags aren't even recognized.

Come on Bioware...

Gonna bump this

Is this issue fixed with the new patch?

I assumed that stuff like this fell under "fixes to story scripting errors".

I hope Zevran's romance flags are fixed. When he acknowledges the romance at all, he acts like the warden is dead, and more often than not he just doesn't mention them.

From what I read in the PC patch comments. If you import a save from Awakenings the romance flags still aren't working correctly. If you import from DA:O it works.

I think I'm just going to import my Origins save for now. I'd rather do without the Finding Nathaniel quest than Leliana not recognizing the romance. Can always replay if they ever fix it, which I'm not counting on it.

From everything we've gathered, the issue is being caused by importing from DAO>DAA>DA2. If you have imported from DAA there is still going to be issues in the newest patch. If you imported from DAO they should all be fixed (though I think there is 1 zevran issue outstanding).

We're currently looking in to way to address the problems from DAO > DAA within DA2 (ie. not forcing you to patch daa and reimport and replay it)

[to clarify, anything imported after DAA, such as Witch Hunt or Golems, will have this issue]

What's the Zevran issue? Is that the acknowledgement of his romance? Is it going to be fixed in a future patch?

I mentioned it in another thread, but how about creating a tool for consoles like the PC tools/mod community has where they can tick on and off hte various flags for key decisions?  I'd prefer to have it accessible for any save game, but if the character import function in DA2 can at least have this, it would allow us to see which decisions migrated properly, and correct those that aren't

I'm actually not so much worried about the impact on DA2, since the 2 wardens I imported from DA:A actually seemed to have the right decisions reflected and those have minor impact on DA2 overall, more concerned about the impact in future DLC or games when importing decisions that might come back into play (like romanicng morrigan and doing the dark ritual, etc)

I agree with doing this.Would solve a lot of headaches when dealing with save game imports.

 A quick question.

Would there be an import issue with Leliana not recognizing a romance with the Warden, if I imported an Origins post-epilogue camp save.

I remember that the notorious Witch hunt bug applied to players that imported post epilogue camp saves.

Although I can't recall if the bug(s) in that case was the game not recognizing the dark ritual, not recognizing the Warden being in a romance with Morrigan, or both.

If anybody could comment, that would be great:).

Is there going to be a fix for the import problems using a Witch Hunt or Golems save? I'd like to know that.

As far as I know import problems won't be fixed until the next patch, which has been estimated at about another month(?) away.

I could be totally off base here, but it almost seems as if the problem with the import flags messing up is not in DA2 but in DA:A and the two DLC. Whatever and wherever the problem it is, it must be significant or hard to find if the first patch is not going to fix it.

As of patch release the import errors are still around and going strong, Nathanial still doesn't register in import window nor does it mention Vigils keep survival.

Not every decision you made in Origins is taken into account in DA2. For instance, my imported save from Origins never had Leliana in my party. I didn't pick her up before the destruction of Lothering so she never knew my Warden. Yet she refers to her personal knowledge of the Hero of Fereldon.
