First; congratulations on "cracking" the companion armor. Good job and very much appreciated.

However, I have noticed that companions do not keep their new "look" when going through area transitions. I can equip an armor, see the change, run around and kill stuff but when I go to a new area, the default appearence reappears.

Unequipping and re-equipping the armor renews the appearence.

Not being a modder I cannot begin to guess what is happening here but perhaps there is some default script that runs automatically?

Once you fix this issue with the "double stat" thing you are gold.

Thanks again.

Huh. Now I'm stumped. How did you get that robe to work on Merrill? Whenever I try to equip a companion it says Restriction: Marian Hawke.

Are you using the equipmentlayout.gda from the first post?

Possibly. It's also possible the party armor is overriding on area load.

Yes, is there another one that I missed?

What armor are you trying to equip then? Maybe it has a real restriction for the main character?

Durp.  Thank you.  I thought the two different files were the same thing.  Sorry for my lack of reading comprehension!

It seems a lot of the inventory items make Fenris disappear. I'll have to test more items out, but the poor lad is naked for now. :D

I'm guessing most armors won't have elf variations (same problem as Merrill).

There's probably few meshes with version for the elves, given all the corners cut in the development.

Hmm, is there a way to get access to the armors and clothes that the elves wear in the alienage and the Dalish camp?

Edit: That, or a way to reclothe Fenris?  He looks so sad and shrimpy in his skivvies.  :(

Certainly, find out what the items are, spawn them or create new items. As for reclothing him, I imagine you can edit his party armor to have an appearance to make him not naked by default.

To go along with this, we need a mod that completely removes the inherent bonus from companion armor and upgrades. Put those to things together, and you'd have a completely customizable Carver and Bethany, at least.

gen_im_npc_elf_arm_cht_dala

There are different variations: dala, dalb, etc up to d.

See this list: http://svn.gib.me/pu...ources.filelist and ctrl+f for "elf." Generally npc only items are gen_im_npc.

So what happens when you purchase a companion armor upgrade?

Here's a version of this mod that gives everyone their default appearance and lets you customize their armor and their appearance changes (like Aveline, Bethany, Carver, and Merrill)

I added 7 new entries to item_variations.gda and updated apr_base.gda to point to these entries (this is how Aveline/Bethany/Carver/Merrill are setup).

Also, I realized now that naked Fenris doesn't have the lyrium tattoos on his body -- does he have them in romance cutscenes (is he naked in them)?

Should still work.

Looks like there's issues with my default appearance variant: arms/legs that don't have gear disappear at the moment, looking to fix.

I fixed the arms / legs issue but there seems to be skin tone issues (Sebastian is a good example). Redownload from the link in the previous post with the link.

Edit: I may just be wrong about the skin tone issue -- it may just be a styling of the armor itself having skin-tone issue section at the arms.

I really like the work you've done with DA2. Do you think it is possible to mod Hawke's appearance so it is permanent? Since you can change companion armor, like you've shown us, is there a way for Hawke to maintain a persistent appearance like vanilla companions?

I'd like to try making a default champion Hawke appearance that wouldn't skew the game's difficulty and still be able to equip new armor, offering new stats.

That's likely possible, yes.

Its amazing. Too much micro-management in DA:O too few in DA2. A little button From Bioware turn customizable Armor 4 companions on/off

This is great. Nice work Thought Process. As someone who actually likes the default look, what I'd really like to be able to do is just add boots/gloves/hats for the stats (even if they don't show on the character).

Would it be possible to make this go the other way, too---e.g., have Hawke be able to equip companion armors, like Bethany's or Anders's robes?

That would be a matter of making a normal item with their mesh.
