I've almost completed the game with a Rogue, and would like to try something different. AoE/nuke/Primal mages don't really suit my style, so I'm thinking about trying out a mage specializing in the Entropy spells. That begs several questions.
Which spell lines should I focus on first? Nightmare seems like a good start, but I'm not sure about the rest.
Which non-Entropy spells are essential and/or synergize well with Entropy spells?
What spell combos work well, even informal ones? Obviously, sleep + horror is a win, but what other strategies are there?
Which specs should I take? For RP reasons, blood mage is right out, but I'd consider others. AW hasn't worked too well for me. My rogue's party had Wynne as an AW, and she was largely ineffective. Her main duty is to keep the party Hasted and frosty, and try not to get killed. Even with massive armor, she's still pretty squishy.
Any suggestions welcome...

I'd rush to Sleep immediately, as Sleep+Horror will be your bread and butter. I'd hold off on Waking Nightmare though. I was never a fan of it, but YMMV. Since this seems to be a CC themed build, consider the Glyph line in Creation. A Glyph of Repulsion in a doorway can set up a Death Cloud beautifully. The Mind Blast and/or Mana Drain lines in Spirit are never bad choices either.
For specializations, I'd go SH/AW. AW is just for the stat bonuses, so don't feel obligated to don a suit of armor or even spend a talent in the AW tree. Honestly, Entropy is so powerful you don't really need a specialization to completely obliterate anything. I think your party build is actually more important than your spell selection. If you don't want to nuke everything, I'd take two warriors and a rogue. I'd probably take Alistair, Sten/Oghren, and Leliana.

If you get coup de grace for your party rogue, and skill up entropy for paralyze/mass paralyze/sleep you can really start wailing on people. Obviously though the entire entropy tree has major synergy for any Melee class.
