So, I've been seeing people say everywhere that there is a huge cliff hanger ending. Well, I just finished the game and maybe I missed something but it seems like it has the same type of ending as most BioWare games. Hero mysteriously vanishes to fulfuill some other purpose (DLC or potentially sequel). What was the huge cliff hanger?
That we don't know where Hawke is, what happened after Kirkwall's events (other than the rest of the circle's rebeled) What the connection between our Warden's disappearance and Hawke's is, if either of them are alive, the Chantry's current condition, Leliana and Cassandra's future role, what is happening with Morrigan and Flemeth, what is the secret behind the mirriors.
Shall I go on?

I think people are referring to the numerous unanswered questions and the fact that at the end they talk about the Hero of Ferelden and the Champion of Kirkwall missing. Basically just the setup for DA3 or DA2's expansion pack.
Meh, the Warden vanished after Origins . . .after Awakening . . .I think we're used to it by now.
And while I'm not accusing you of doing this, saying that this 'cliffhanger' sets up DA3 means, to me anyway, that this game we just played was filler and unimportant . . .because of what I say next.

Probably because the ending left us with the start of a war, rather than a conclusion of one. Which marvelously sets the stage for the next game in the series, but leaves many feeling put out about the current title.
Except, we knew that from the beginning - Varric says it to Cassandra before we even actually start to do anything ourselves. Since this is the story of how the world got to the "brink of war" (as Varric calls it), of COURSE it's going to end that way. Anyone expocting something different is . . . misguided?

You could say anything has a cliff hanger ending then because you never know what happens for the rest of their lives unless they die.

The world is on the brink of War, The Mages no longer let the Templar rule them, the chantry is falling, The Tevinter and the Qunari are doing god knows what. How is that not a cliffhanger?
Orlais and Feraldin are also at war or going to be, according to Alistar.

There's also other areas like what happened with companions, or your romance, the city at the end was on fire from what I noticed, just from one stupid blast Anders did, so what happened there, people just returned to their homes and went to bed or something?

Really?
The drunk I saw didn't say anything about that . . . .

Also noticed everyones armor had the Chantry symbol at the end I might be wrong. The Templars was their military branch..not if that means anything or not.
They are the Seekers, the special forces of the Divine.

It's like reading a book only to find the last couple of pages are missing and it spoils the entire experience. I don't know who to blame, Bioware for messing up Dragon Age 2 so epically or EA for it's influence..
Really pissed and disappointed. Hope a decent expansion gives a sense of closure to this game.

I absolutely hate the ending. It's becoming more and more common for developers to get real sloppy, Origins left alot of questions unanswered but still felt as though I finished the game. DA2 is a different story. I feel as though the final chapter was deliberately left out so fans will be eager for more.

It's a middle game. I don't understand you people...
On a different note, this WON'T be ended in an expanison pack. It's going to a DA3. You can bank on it.

It's obvious now, but I can see how some people didn't think of it that way, which would make them find the ending unsatisfactory. When I saw the ending, it just screamed DA3, so I found it quite adequate. I'm 99% sure there is a 3. Don't act like it's impossible, dude.

The game could have just as easily have it's own ending but it did not. Instead it had a cliff hanger. The game should have just been called Dragon Age 2 Part 1.
You spend the entire game trying to maintain the peace in Kirkwell and the ending tells you that war is about to break out and your nowhere to be found. In a manner of speacking they could have just skipped the hero part and said that all the circle of magi and templars rebelled and the world is on the brink of war now start Dragon Age 2.
Origins had the Blight which you fought against and saved Fereldan. Only unanswered question was what was morrigan up to? DA2 just gave questions.

So, the game had no purpose except to set up DA3? That's what you believe? Really?

O no you misunderstand I fully expect a Dragon Age 3 to come out. But I also don't expect it to be the end of the series, that's why I say it's not a trilogy nor is it being hyped as one.
