Why is it that killing all the Dalish has absolutely no effect on anything? Merrill doesn't even acknowledge or metnion it. Actually, afterwards she talks about how she cannot go back to her people if she is going to be involved with Hawke (or something along those lines).... Well no duh her tribes all dead.

Because her quests are super screwed up. You can get her reaction to the murdering of her people before you actually murder her people.

Seems some of her quests are glitched. However when I killed them, she did react, albeit it was through banter, not a proper dialog wheel.

She says something along the lines of "They're all dead, I never wanted this...never"

To clarify, there is a bug where right when act 3 starts, you talk to Merrill the cutscene that was intended to play after killing the dalish ,and she's crying and saying she can't believe the keeper is gone. Was confused when later on I went there for he mission and the keeper was fine, thought maybe I misunderstood what she was saying. Never made the connection that cutscene played early til I came to the forums

Yup, the cutscene where she's crying in front of the mirror would appear to be the one you should get after the quest, rather than before it as it happens now.

I had the scene with her crying afterwards but she talked about how she was sad Pol died. She didn't mention the rest of the clan.

I had the mention of it before (which was a bit odd) but she just said that they left and that she needed to go do the ritual thing with the demon. This was logical with her reaction when I then went to the Dalish (she was surprised the clan was still here after all these years).

After I wiped the entire clan (I HATED not having a choice, this was totally random bloodshed, totally illogical, couldn't even flee or something, I would NEVER have hurt the Dalish, even on a misunderstanding!), Merril just kept having fun chatting with Isabella, no mention of it whatsoever...

After playing the entire game with her at my side, really got me frustrated :/

If you take personal responsibility for the Keeper's death, they won't attack and just force you to leave and never come back.

Doesn't make any sense but that's good to know. Cheers

Same with me because after using that line the Dalish went completely postal on me and my party.

Then again I wasn't surprised that they came after me, I took full responsibility for it.  What I didn't expect was that I was going to have to wipe out the entire Dalish clan in order to leave.   I mean that was just ridiculous, it was a complete massacre.

How in the high hell do companion quests that are bugged make it out the door? FO: New Vegas had serious issues with this, too.

Even if people skip silly side quests you can bet almost everyone is going to do the companion quests.

--And the Dalish aren't too bright apparently.

Pro-tip: Attacking a whirling deathmachine is generally a bad idea.

You both chose option C (third one), and they still attacked you?  Now that's very strange.  I wasn't even nice to them and they let me go... then again, I was on the rivalry path (not 100%) so maybe that has something to do with it?
