Why is Flemeth in DA2?

Seriously, why is she even in it, for two cutscenes?

Second one is to show how she's still alive if you killed her in Origins.

To cement her position as the pivotal character of Dragon Age. In the end, she will play a huge role, I am sure.
So i'm right in thinking as powerful as she is, she can stop anything, do anything. Yet she's basically using the Warden and Hawke for some greater purpose?

Exactly. If both are involved, if Maric is involved, what that purpose is, or when it will happen is still up in the air. I have a feeling if you had a baby with Morrigan on your Warden, somehow the baby will be significant.

Nah, I didn't get the "she has plans for Hawke" vibe from that.
I got "I need to get this amulet to Sundermount and here's an easy delivery" vibe.

Flemeth is there because she missed us. Seriously though she's there because she is an extremely major character. I have a feeling we're going to face her in DA:III
We already faced her in Origins, little good that did.
I'm going to take a shot in the dark that she helped the Warden so that Morrigan could give birth to the God Child, and helped the Champion to put the world in to a state of war, causing confusion etc. Just so she can make her move and take over the God Childs body.

Just because the Warden couldn't kill her doesn't mean she can't die. Also I have a feeling that Flemeth is already strong enough without the old god child. Even Morrigan says she's not human nor Abomination she's something worse.Zyphone wrote...

Or hopefully side with her because we realize that what she is, what she experienced and what she knows is more important in the grand scheme of things than the lives of millions random people.

Because Flemeth is the most important character in Dragon Age, and she needs to be in every DA game, naturally!

Yea, got that gut feeling as well after talking with Merril. The way the keeper was totally cool with her and vice/versa (I mean, that was a LOT of trust from Flemeth) only seems to go this direction as well.
Suits me fine

It's just showing that she is alive. I have a feeling that a big part of the story in Dragon Age 3 is going to revolve around her.....
We thought a large part of DA2 was going to revolve around her also.

I'm sure there is more to it then that, but that's most likely for DLC or even DA3.

In WITCH HUNT, Morrigan says that Flemeth is the biggest threat to the world, more than any Blight, and no one knows what she really is, as she's much more than a witch or an abomination.

But Morrigan must know what she really is, plus nobody ever reads Flemeth's Grimoire apart from Morrigan in Origins. (May be wrong on that, because I know theres an option to take it for yourself, I just never chose that ever).

Pretty sure at the end of Witch Hunt Morrigan says she thought she knew what Flemeth is, but was wrong.
Maybe Flemeth is just Dragon Age's evil version of Tom Bombadil.
