I'm level 8 and im getting thrashed by those shadow wolves. its not just their overwhelm but they also seem to do a lot of damage as a base attack for white mobs.

I usually save the forest for later so by then this fight doesn't even matter. But these wolves are kicking my ass faster than the bounty hunters outside of the frostback mountains so i'm failry certain I'v hit a level cap. I know the bandit cap is 10+, so they are at a minimum of level 10 (but the actual encounter is meant for later levels because of their abilities). I'm getting the same impression that im not yet intended to beat this encounter.

So i'm about to turn back and say forget it until I grow some more levels. Maybe i'll try a couple more times but i'm fairly convinced that I wont win, similar to the revenant fight in redcliff which I am also saving to kill at a later date. So i was just wondering if anyone knows the exact level cap the lower ruins are set to? I'm thinking it was 12 or something like that.

I've done the forest and werewolves normally around level 10, it's those two ogres that usually get me and I have to leave them for another day.

oh yeah those can be tough, I always split them up though. Running in to face them both is more suicidal than it needs to be. If you edge your way closer you will only draw the attention of one of them.

I've tried that many times, but for some reason they both always attack even when I just edge in one character under stealth. The second ogre always sees me too. I also find the Revenant in the ruins at that level difficult. Not un-doable just a hard slog. I am not entirely sure, but I think the forest is meant for slightly higher levels.

for the Shadow Wolf bit I usually change to having two (offensive) mages, 1 rogue and the compulsory tank. Ensure your mages have area-effect spells (firestorm is a personal favourite) and you'll get through them nicely. I have often found placing the mages just outside the chamber doorway particularly effective - this means though that you need to be very well prepared with potions.
