Haha, I agree with all of the above. Varric was one of my favorite characters. And he stole the show with that little part of the story. I was sitting there thinking "why the eff is this so freaking easy..."

Lord, did Varric go in. I was roaring like a frat boy during this whole scene, too intense. I wish Varric would have gotten out of hand with his story telling more throughout the story, would have been some priceless moments.

This. Didn't the devs say that Varric would exaggerate a lot? I think some exaggeration during the final boss fight would have been epic.

You think the final boss wasn't exaggerated? Dragonball Z flying and stuff

I'm glad you guys liked it. Mary Kirby did an excellent job with writing and David Sims with the Tech Design. And I got to go in and pretend I was combining Sergio Leone with Indiana Jones ;)

I actually left that to the very end of the project. It was my treat for finishing working on the more mundane stuff. My only disappointment is I never got the Ennio Moricone treatment on the Varric theme.

Well, Varric did tend to shoot his mouth off a lot with funny stuff.  He had some of the best lines in the game but some were kind of off hand.
Like the convo two drunks in the Hanged man were saying about Hawke killing dragons and sleeping on their bones...I heard that and said OUT loud...What the hell is Varric saying about Hawke????Posted Image

So you three are the ones we have to thank for that entertaining little scene? Bravo Mr. Epler, bravo. That scene had me caught between laughing at loud and staring at the screen as if entranced by Varric's badassery. :D

My favorite part of that is when his brother was begging for mercy

I would also recommend taking Anders along on that quest, at least once.

Somewhat different ending, and I feel it is by far the more powerful one. Bartrand's voice actor nailed it.

I have to do that next time now.

he is always died first in my game. he got little power, less stamina. I don't really use him a lot. since I am mage class. he is kind of useless. during combat, he attack enemies way back in line. sometimes I don't know where he is.

As long as you pump up his Dex and max his Bianca and Marksmen skills he does the most DPS out of anybody. He is a badass.

Fair warning - I spent a ton of time (a few leave-at-2AM nights) getting -that- ending just right, so I may be slightly biased ;)

I love Varric - he's like the cool brother that I wish I had (although I did get along with Carver...eventually). Oh right - sleep-deprived here, so I forgot to add that I very much enjoyed Varric's moment of glory in the mansion.

*Nod* Varric is a staple in my group.  My mage was a spirit healer and had no difficulties keeping the group alive.  Varric has some bad ass DPS seriously esp since my mage can't really handle the AOE's (it turns off her aura that heals everyone)

Sebastian is a close second. Archers are wicked in DAII. I thought they were OP in DAO lol.

*nod* My first run I misssed getting Fenris and my group was PC mage, Aveline, Varric and Sebastian. Stuff didn't stay alive long enough (unless it was a boss) to be any trouble for them.

I thought this was one of the best uses of the "Story within a story" thing...I honestly expected more of these, but i'll go with quality over quantity as that was incredibly fun to play and watch.

I wish there just another moment like that in the game. Seriously, though. Well done.

That scene was awesome! LOL. Easily one of the coolest parts of the story. I'm also glad that he kept his exaggerations to a minimum, as far as the player knows at least. Varric tells a great story, but I don't even want to speculate about what "really" happened during DA2.

Easily one of the best parts of the entire game. I love the stare down that starts it off, like a duel from the Wild West. Then all of your shots knock the enemies back like 50 feet or outright make them explode. Hilarious. I definitely wish there were more moments like that.
