First, find all of the tomes and destroy them.
Second, just follow the quest journal.

i found this to be hard ass fight on normal mode. then again i had 2 DW rogues, 1 DPS mage, and a healer. eventually everyone got wiped out after killing xebenkeck, and then i just ran around to single out the rage demons, and then the revenant with isabella, i got lucky more than anything. i don't like aveline, she's uptight so i've been playing without a tank pretty much since i got isabella. but i think i'm going to have to change up my party. again i found this fight challenging on normal. i suck.

This was by far the hardest fight so far on my hard playthrough. I had myself as a rogue, Fenris, Varric & Anders and was caught off guard on my first run at killing her and wiped. On my second run I used poisons and poured on the dps on her until all the adds were beating on my party. Then I collapsed and basically tried to aoe everything which worked pretty well. Tempest, chain-lightning with mindblast stuns from Anders, Hail of Arrows from Varric and Whirlwind/Scythe from Fenris. Anders and my rogue ended up dying but not before I got Xebenkeck down. I was then able to finish off the seemingly endless waves of demons with Varric & Fenris.
Xebenkeck dropped a badass staff called Voracity. Guess I'll have to take Merrill out more often. Fun fight though!

I once had to finish a dragon off using bethany alone, it took forever kiting it with no heals.

I had the samn problem.
Kiting Ogre at the begining and mage kiting a lot later.

Just move everyone into the corridor outside and have your tank stand in the door.
Then they can't surround any of your characters.
It's called funneling

The only time I found one of the tomes was in Act II near the Dalish camp. There was a cave that said "A recently opened cave." My party was too crappy and I died in the tome room.
Guess that's what second play throughs are for!

Where is the tome on the wounded cost, I have found the rest of them but can not find the one there?
2 in the City keep and Chantry, one in the Bone pit area and the one in the Nexus Room where is the Dank Cave? The maps and Journal does not provide much help with this one.

dailish camp, at the 3 way fork take the left side into the small gully, its called recently opened cave.....take a lot of potions and your ultimate hitters and make a hard save outside the cave, prepare for a tough battle

It Shames me to admit I had to drop the difficulty off hard to even finish that fight. I could kill her just fine but no matter what I tried or where I sent my party, they always died to the constant aggro dropping Rage Demons.
In DA1 Rage Demons were made from rage. Now they cause nothing but rage.
