Hawke attacking in Extreme Slow-mo.

'Dragon Age Origins' is one of my all-time favorite RPGs. The freezing in 'Awakenings' surprised me, but I thought 'hey, everyone makes mistakes.' It was the multiple freezups during the final battle in 'Darkspawn Chronicles'--when I'd be moments away from winning--that really annoyed me, but I decided to look on the bright side: 'well, at least when DA2 comes out, they'll have taken these proliferating errors into account, and we'll have a really streamlined, refined game.'
This slow-motion bug has GUTTED my first play-through of the game I've been most looking forward to for a YEAR.
Developers: please get this fixed already. Each day pours more acid onto customer faith and loyalty. I don't want to wince on the day I buy DA3 thinking, 'oh god, what's going to go wrong THIS time'? 'Even worse, I don't want to wonder, 'do I even want to buy it and risk the frustration...'?
While it will take some work to rebuild product integrity, **it's not too late**. The anger I have about these glitches is exceeded only by my affection for and loyalty to the series.
A week ago, an email response asked me to 'please be patient.' Fine. But the last grains of sand are thudding against the bottom of the hourglass...

To avoid this bug when you get Issy to friendship bonus point, just don't go to areas where she's ripped out of the party right?
What about saving?

From what I've read--if you don't already have the bug, you're right. As far as saving, you should save at other locations before going to your house (Merrill's home, The Hanged Man, etc., all give you opportunities to regather your party). The two places to avoid going with the bugged characters (Isabella and Sebastien) are 1. your house and 2. the Qunari compound.
At least we can laugh at the fact that of all friends to catch a 'bug' from, it's Isabella. Given her, um, wide-ranging propensities for pleasure, that seems accurate.
I love Izzy, but Sebastien is so dull and preachy. As the 'special' character of the game, he can't hold a candle to Shale. He's one of my big disappointments with DA2. The special character should have been...unique, weird, lovable, *special*!! Like Shale.

I refer you to the first 3 workarounds I have been using myself that I mentioned a few posts above:1) Always remove Isabella on your own, do not let the game force remove her (like going to the Hawke Estate). The forced removal I think is what triggers the bug
2) equip any items that increase attack speed, or use the spell Haste and any modes that boost attack speed.
3) Sandal gives you a special rune that increases attack speed if you keep the lyrium shard from Varric's Act 3 quest. Equip that on a weapon and you get about +30% attack speed.
These bring your attack speed either back to normal or above the normal rate.
I personally never planned on removing Isabella from my squad, she complements my 2H warrior campion nicely. However, that fact (removing her on my own) is something I will keep in mind. Thanks.
As for 2 and 3 , I would prefer that those things assist me, rather than cancel out a bug.
I appreciate the advice, but I will just wait for the patch once I reach the point. I've got other games that can keep me busy.

Don't start entertaining a second Isabella free playthrough just yet .
The Epic trophy for two importless playthrough is ofcourse not working either .
That aborted any small solace I may have been hoping for.
Additionally theres no guarentee that your pre patch save will be rescued post patch...

Just wondering.

I just finished my Mage playthrough doing all the quests in the game (there's 2 in the game that you cant clear because they are bugged, one in act2 and another in act3, but they are just secondary quests without story) and having/using both Sebastian and Isabela with full friendship and i was able to avoid the bug all the time till Isabela's final quest because you are forced to take her with you and she gets removed in a cutscene in that quest.
But i was able to stop the bug before it made any harm by clearing the quest straight away and going back to the hangmen and removing her myself.
To avoid it just dont use them in quests that they are removed by the game, and always have 3 or 4 diferent saves so if you get the bug you can reload and fix it.
Also take care because in some cutscenes you can get bugged too if she's not in your party.
Mi save got bugged once in the hangmen when i gave her a present, but i noticed and reloaded quickly and tried giving her the present whit her in my party and it was fine.
Do what i said and you will be able to avoid this bug. Also you can save everywhere with them, nothing bad will happen.

Nothing TOO bad. Hopefully, the primeval shard will be able to counter it later, but for now, Might of the Sten is gonna be with my for quite some time.

Damn I'm on the final quest and there's no way my Hawke can finish it with his speed like this! My luck sucks so much.
i'm stucked at act 2, not even finished. my hawke is like -20% atk speed.
i wonder if after the patch comes out we shall resume form our last save with stats reset or bring some old saves.
Not sure if my hawke was afflicted even before deep road cause i got isabela friendship quite early in the game.

Lets hope players can continue where we all left off. Wish this patch would come soon. The suspense is killing me!

It'll probably take two more weeks, since it takes a good month to make a patch.
If it takes a good month to just MAKE a patch than we'll have to wait at least a month more as the certification process takes at least 2 weeks additionally. Unfortunately.

I know, I know--I'm a dreamer.
But here's to reaching ten pages--onwards, compatriots!
The most dismaying suggestion I've seen lately is that the patch might take effect only with a pre-bug save (or with a flat-out game restart). I was nearing the end of Act II on my first playthrough. I don't want to do a whole retread without having seen for myself how the game turns out in Act III. If we can't even start up where we left off...FFS, that would be the icing on the cake with this bug. Anyone tech-savvy care to weigh in here?
And another possible 2 weeks +? I admit to hoping naively that it would be dealt with this week. This has to be in the flub hall of fame. Which brings up an interesting question: can anyone think of any other bugs as annoying as this one? I've played a lot of games...surely not as many as some of you guys, but still a lot...and I can't recall anything comparable to this.

PS this is tangential, but I'm wondering--regarding the icons under our pictures, I know (obviously) that they denote which games we've registered: mine are Origins, Awakening, and DA2. I assume the pink icon is for Mass Effect...but what the heck is the half gold/half silver Warden shield?
It's the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins
