I noticed there was an achievement for killing :an ancient personification of pride" which I'm guessing is a pride demon.  I've beaten the game and I killed two pride demons in the course of playing it.  I killed the one during Merrill's companion quest and the one near the end of the game.  Unfortunately, the achievement did not unlock either time.

Is this a glitch similar to the Exiled Prince achievements?  Should I have the achievement or is there some other pride demon (or pride whatever) I should have killed?

It is not a glitch you just have not killed the correct demon, the locked description is a bit misleading but once you unlock it, it names the demon.
In Act III, there are 3 scrolls you must find in order to do this quest. they give you the location of the demon you have to kill.

Actually, it is not a glitch. The OP did not kill the right demon. There are three scrolls found during Act III which lead to an eventual confrontation with the demon Hybris. Once you defeat it, then the achievement should unlock. The demons during Merrill's companion quest and during "The Last Straw" do not count, despite being named Pride Demons.

edit: GG Vivace, beat me to the punch by a couple of seconds. For the sake of greater detail, the name of the quest series is the "Awiergan Scrolls: Pride Unbound".

I can verify that this achievement requires killing Hybris in Act 3 as several people have said. You'll see why it has it's own achievement when you get there.

 Lol, yeah. The other 'Pride Demons' pale in comparison.
