I thought we Star Wars fans were horrible but the DA2 forum has turned into all-out war. I'm not going to complain about that stuff though. My only beef is that for some reason, I can't register my account and participate in the DA2 campaign sub-forum.

It will die down eventually. I recall the ME2 forum wasn't far off that level of hysteria after it was released. Several factors such as that guy getting banned and the resulting douchery, problems with all the dlc and the apparent quality of the game(can't comment as I STILL haven't received my copy) have stirred things up even more.

It's madness.
But it will end in a week or two, perhaps. Still...the game feels kinda rushed and it's nowhere near to the quality of Origins, but it's a nice game. I like it.

Personally I am enjoying the game, and can't see what the problem is all about. Sure I have my complaints about Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2.

@Druss, yeah exactly like Mass Effect 2. But worse, much much worse. Not sure when it will end.

Speaking of ME2, what do people find so bad about that game? Based on the reviews, it looks like a pretty cool game.

It is.
I like ME2 better than the first one, in fact.

Both sides are dumb as Hell.

The fanboiz are a spectacular brown-nosed lot, they will praise everything BioWare puts out, the haters will hate it regardless of the game's redeeming qualitites.

I'll just have another beer while the world is on fire.

It's a forum for hate now. And something I like to avoid.

Not the type of people I would like to chat with, definitely.

Yeah I don't visit the DA 2 thread very often any more. All i come across are complaint threads which has gotten to be rather old.

Honestly, I need something to take my mind off Dragon Age as a whole. Between the "black and white" reviews for DA2, I'm still in shock over how DA:O killed one of my video cards and has crippled another. I'm almost afraid of playing another Dragon Age game let alone any other Bioware game that inadvertently degrades a video card over some period of time to the point where I can't get into Windows. I don't mind that I don't have access to the DA2 forum section as I don't really have anything to post. Right now, I'll still look forward to Mass Effect 3 (and hope to have a fully working video card by then).

I don't really go there anymore as most of the decent topics either get pushed off the first several pages by hater/defender threads or get transformed into one when one of the sides posts their view and attracts the opposition.
At least that man-giraffe-dog spam is making a valiant attempt to distract them. :P

I avoid it because I don't want spoilers for my maiden game (so to speak). I do use the tech board having had a couple of problems though.

It's a depressing forum, for sure. It's overrun by people who's collective opinions come down to "hate! hate! hate!", to the point where they simply cannot see ANYTHING positive in DA2.

I think it is ridiculous, and I am not some bioware "fanboy" that swallows everything they release without criticism. I am not claiming that DA2 is perfect, by any means, or that it doesn't have it's share of flaws (recycling dungeon maps comes to mind), but seriously, there's also some of the best writing in there in recent memory of Bioware games.

The "dumbing down" is totally exaggerated - sure, there are no skills, just tallents/stats/spells, and sure, you can't change your companion's armor, and these are things that do, without doubt, reduce the complexity of the game.

However, what is never mentioned by the detractors are the things that ADD complexity to the game - namely the cross-class skill/spell combinations implemented through the various status effects. I wonder if the pure haters even familiarized themseleves with the game deep enough to realize that such things were there in the first place?

I can understand the disappointment of people who simply, for whatever reason, don't like the changes from the first game - it took time for the game to win me over - but the hate-spamming and the degree of vitriole has simply spiraled out of all proportion, and is in danger of becoming a self-parody.

I think some people were detirmined to hate the game before it even came out, Months before the game came out the hate started and it only snowballed once the demo came out. If you are detirmined to hate something from the start you will. I mean have you ever been dragged to a movie that you didn't want to see? No way in hell are you going to enjoy that movie even if it has it's good points you'll only remember what you hate about it. I believe for some they had a similar approach to Dragon Age 2.

The ammount of rubbish posted on the forums since the game came out is beyond belief. Dragon Age 2 is the new Final Fantasy XIII a game that people just decided they hate from the start so others join on the bandwagon for the sake of it. And since Bioware made their little folly and it got posted on a few sites they have become the flavour of the month and the target of a few idiots who feel that spamming the forums is a way to fight for peoples rights or whatever.

Unfortunately the guy it happened to does not help the mattter either he's been a pathetic little attention seeker which is to be expected of the kind of hypocrite who does enough to get himself banned and then cries to gaming sites that he's been hard done by and treated unfairly.

On to Dragon Age 2 it's a different game to Origins and not all in a bad way, It has a far more complex and subtle storyline than Origins simplistic ancient evil rises up and you are the hero that must quest to destroy it. Dragon Age 2 builds things slowly and you don't know who your friends are and who your enemies are and it's things like that which make the game intereresting to play. The tactics and battle system is more or less more of the same though the lack of a tactical camera is a pain but i learned to deal with it. Inventory system could use some work too.

It's not a perfect game but neither was Origins. And what makes me laugh is when Origins came out it had it's haters and now people treat it as some messiah of games while slamming Dragon Age 2.

My opinion? Check it 1 to 2 times a day and wait for the burning fires to go out. People are having fits over video games on the internet. It happens. Unfortunately, it's happening close to home. We simply wait for it to die down.

Speaking of ME2, what do people find so bad about that game? Based on the reviews, it looks like a pretty cool game.

People think it was dumbed down, blah blah EA something something, point a finger to blame. It's easy to criticize and blame.

Its a vile vile place atm. I think I would rather browse rpg codex than DA2's general board. The spoiler forums are decent though. It seems that most of the people posting on their are actually rational and sane.

I myself was very excited but act 1 let me down and the game does feel very rushed, even the musical composer of the game went out and said the game and as well as his work was rushed which is quality he didn't expect from Bioware.

Cause people are mad, and some people will go to their grave praising bioware, and then their are the bloody spammers. I was looking forward to the game. But the forum is a nightmare

I think it's because people expected Dragon Age 2 to be about the same as Mass Effect 2 in terms of quality.

Mass Effect 2 was amazing. One of the best games I ever played of it's genre Action/Rpg.
Dragon Age 2 was rushed, it's been confirmed Origins didn't even come out 2 years ago and we already have a sequel. There are problems with DA 2 but I found it very enjoyable I mean seriously after playing through Origins like 14 times all I care is about the combat and such and DA2 excels there in everyway.

I find all the hyperventilating that goes on there rather hilarious. And actually somewhat touching. I have to say that I am impressed by how emotionally invested people are in the games they play.

Its a Hive of Scum and Villainy.

It'll die down in a bit, but in the meantime I'm sticking in the off-topic area
