I actually have...but I'm referring to the game characters, not Catholic practices of The Prelature of the Holy Cross.

I firmly believe in "The Work of God" sanctity of marriage and stand by people who believe in celebacy.
But, in the game....I want Sebastian to have that choice. I think everyone should have a choice.

I actually have...but I'm referring to the game characters, not Catholic practices of The Prelature of the Holy Cross.

I firmly believe in "The Work of God" sanctity of marriage and stand by people who believe in celebacy.
But, in the game....I want Sebastian to have that choice. I think everyone should have a choice.

I guess we have an initial experience with Leliana and from there, we sort of expect every person to take vows to be a little like her. Sure, Sebastian led a decadent life before being taken to the chantry, but unlike Leliana he does really seem to have turned the page completely.

I will not elaborate on the commented Opus Dei, but it´s a perfect real world example of people whith an attitude towards religion and people like the one Sebastian shows. And I will keep it at that taking no judgment on their actions.

LOL, seriously.  Although seeing just how tragic some of the other romances are, I guess the Warden should count her lucky stars.

Hawke: My boyfriend is possessed by a demon.  And also a terrorist.
Warden: Ah. Well, that puts things in perspective I suppose.

I don't think it would matter.. I might give this a go next round, I was thinking about it as I played through the first time, but if they have a rivalry like that can you even "romance" them?

A lot of potential wasn't used in this game. It takes place over the course of a decade and Hawke sleeps only once with his/her LI intersperced with some conversations. Frankly I did the Sebastian romance first, yes his achievements are bugged unless he was never meant to be a romance and so won't flag. If he is a friend then the conversations following "Faith" are different so he definitely had different dialogue romanced.
The way they are presented here, it was hard to get an attachment to any of the romances (for me). I may as well romance the choir boy since Hawke is a virtual monk anyway.
And I did flirt with Aveline on my first character not knowing I couldn't romance her for sure and while it doesn't trigger a romance, it didn't interfere in the Sebastian one either.

I do have to say, they definitely improved on the kiss scenes this game.. but yeah... the actual -feeling- behind the romances was down. It was "Here, you had four conversations... and here's a last conversation.You totally feel like your character was MEANT to be with ___ right?!?" And it's like "...no... no I don't....actually. You just said three years passed before Fenris bothers to apologize to me. I might as well take a vow to the chantry!!!" except I didn't. I used the excuse of Fenris informing Anders that it was over as reason enough to not bring Fenris along when I went to a certain someone's cameo. And Aveline rolled her eyes when I walked off with him, but pfft. She's been married all this time. She doesn't understand what my poor Hawke has been through! One night after three years with a different hot elf is more than deserved.

In the guide it says that "you can win Sebastian's heart", At the end he will "suggest a unconventional partnership".

My husband's name is Sebastien; so I have mine in real life; therefore I will stick with Fenris in the game lol.

The Sebastian romance is a waste of a great character. At the end of my game, he went off to his home to get an army together. I had the rivalry at 100.

After Anders confronts Merrill at your estate, you can talk to him, and then there's a line that goes something like "Is that all you can think of to do/Is that the best you can do?" Then he starts moving towards Hawke and then it cuts out after that. I assumed they were getting naughty again. Oh well, I could have done with more kissing at will a la Alistair - I mean, they did a way better job of it this time. *blushes at Anders*

I didn't care for the kisses much either.  It looked like it wasn't lined up right when my Hawke kissed Fenris.  And please, 2 nookies in 10 years?  That's still living the life of a virtual monk.
Face it, the romance in DA2 sucks and requires that one either have a seriously powerful hankering for Anders from his Awakening days (which I don't) or a lot of imagination to fill in the blanks of 10 years time for the others (which I kind of had to do).  I think I would have just as much fun not triggering any of them.  4-5 conversations and 1 (and possibly one more) nookie in a decade's span of time doesn't a romance make in my estimation.  I could have done with more interaction, maybe your romanced LI has at least 2-3 more convos per Act where it actually FEELS as if you are getting to know them.  It felt like the romance was put in there as an afterthought, as if they felt they had to slap a sugar coating on the whole thing to placate players who like it.  Aside from some flirts, the dialogues with them as a friend wasn't much different as a LI.  There were different lines but I didn't feel connected like I did to Alistair or Leliana or Morrigan.  Frankly, I feel they are severely lacking in DA2.  Even the flirtations didn't have the same feel as say, flirting with Teagan in the chantry in Redcliffe.  Hell, we can flirt but not touch him but I still felt more for Teagan than I did any of the 'romanced' NPCs in DA2.
I was closest to Aveline and Varric than any of the others and neither of them is romanceable.  Though i imagine after 10 years of living almost a nun's life, even the dwarf was looking pretty damn good to LadyHawke by that point.
Romance isn't just about the nookie, it's not about that, that's just a by product.  I don't see much difference between Sebastian and any of the other LI's.  I just feel the romances in DA2, which because it takes place over a decade, should have been a lot more instead of less, but frankly the Origin ones engaged my mind a hell of a lot more than the ones in DA2.

Actually I know you can invite Anders to live with you ... you only have one actual scene but if he's living with you I think it can be assumed that you know, he and Hawke are sleeping together. Also just because something doesn't happen on screen doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Edit to add:  After you talk to him for the first time in Act III, Anders additional codex entry will indicate that he and Hawke are still lovers.  I've only beaten the game once though so I don't know if this holds true for other LI's or not.

That's where the "imagination" part comes in. Still, my point is, the romances felt rushed in this, like they didn't get much attention. The ones in DAO felt much more engaging. A decade of time compared to 1 years time ...I just feel there should have been more, not less.

Ok yes I agree they felt rather rushed. Also I miss being able to have actual conversations with your companions, LI included. As much as I liked a lot of the companions, I did not feel as connected to them as I did to the DAO ones.

Sebastian - fine, romance - fine, okay, okay, but my question is - why are the flirt lines so extremely STUPID?!
"S: I offer you my services."
"H: Oh, I can think about few services..."
and
"S: Hawke, you mean so much to me, but I swore to Andraste..."
"H: Why not? Just once and after that we'd act like nothing happened."
And suddenly he proposes this holy marriage and you can or gladly accept, or refuse and making fun of him. I can't imagine a situation, when I use those lines and a man like Sebastian falls in love with me. Still they seem to work on him... but I'm sure it's a BioWare's joke.

Man, seriously. For the first time ever I was like, "Why hello, Cullen. Maybe you are salvagable after all." I never understood his fangirls before.  Alistair ... well, I mostly just didn't look at the monitor while he was talking. His voice is still pure love, at least.

As for Sebastian, my LadyHawkes want to make out with him so bad, but his little proposal is soooo not for any of them, past or future ones I make. He's a dang tease.

I know when Sebastian threw down the "You let Anders live; I'm bringing an army" my reaction was "Bring it! I'm not killing my buddy just because you say so." Kudos to the VA for absolutely nailing the "your precious Anders" line. I wanted to punch Sebastian in the face for that one.

Seriously, he needed a good punch at that moment. I am so very looking forward to Sebastian coming after Hawke looking for his vengeance. Prince is going down. Anders and I are gonna lay him out.

I just finished DA2 and romanced Sebastian. It was such a huuuge disappointment. You can't flirt with anyone if you want to be able to romance him. There's no real "romance scenes" as in no bedroom scene, no kissing, no hugging. At least nothing that I discovered. The only reference you get is to a "chaste marriage in the eyes of the chantry" and "serving the maker together" but that is it. Even at the very end of the game I thought there might be some text reference to him and my Hawke character. Kind of how at the end of DA there was... but nope. nada.

Plus I think his achievements are glitched?

Overall I'm let down by this, especially when there were soooo many other options with cheek fanning romance scenes. *cough*ander'skiss*cough* . Oh Sebastian... you had such potential.

He's incredibly attractive for a game character but it seems like our carnal yearnings will be left to fanfiction and pics. Apparently we missed out on his "wild child" years. Shame really that we meet the one priest in the universe who actually takes his vows seriously.

There should be a "Take him to the Hangman and get him pissed" option.

In one of the scenes with your dog Anders tells him(Barkspawn) that he can no longer sleep on Hawke's bed because now that he's staying there is no room. If that doesn't imply that he and Hawke are still intimate I don't know what does.

I had that scene with the dog too, and Anders had moved in by the time Leandra died and a reference was made to their relationship then as well.
