I was just playing a few minutes ago and then I decided to look at a few of my build options. Take into account that I an level 16 and I have used a few of the extra talent tomes. Also bear with me because I don't know the name of every skill/talent.

My first build Was primarly based around trickery and raw damage. I basically have no durability but I'm either stealthed or obscured close to 90% of the time.

In Dual Weapon Specialization I get only 2 points: Just grab Backstab and the upgrade that reduced its cooldown.

In Shadow I grab every talent there is, but none of the upgrades (at least not until later) mainly to get Predator, allowing all of my attacks (including backstab) to crit 100% of the time as long as I am actually behind them.

[POSSIBLE GLITCH]: When I use Backstab and I successfully hit them in the back, it doesn't always perform a critical, even though the skill indicates it works with all abilities. It crits sometimes but it should be all of the time. Or maybe I'm just seeing things.. hard to tell

Anyway I also grab a few skills in Subterfuge, starting with stealth, grabbing the backflip for a point filler, then I get Lingering Shroud and the stealth auto-crit. This is a deadly combination with the talent in Shadow so it obscures you every time you are stealthed, guaranteed 2 improved criticals rather than just one, making Backstab an awesome critical.

In Scoundrel I grab Blindside for the 20% damage bonus. In this set, I never expect the enemy to be attacking me, so it's a good investment. Especially with Decoy up (yes I tested it, blindside does improve the damage even if the target they are attacking is the decoy). I also grab the Back0back and improve it with Invisible Friend upgrade so that every time I do teleport, I'm stealthed and obscured once more. I also grab the Follow-through talent just for good measure.

Finally I've gotten Mark of the Assassin in the assassin tree (derp) just as a cooldown ability/single target nuke, as well as Silent-running just for the extra mobility. I don't bother with the duration bonus/stamina reduction on stealth because Follow-through makes up for it and I don't usually stick around in stealth that long anyway.

This build is solely based on trickery and taking advantage of enemies attacking your tank. Grab a little bit of dexterity just to hold weapons then put the rest in Cunning, your crit damage will easily hit 150%-200% with talents.
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Another build I find really fun is putting all of the point in Duelist as much as possible (except the talent with 20% defense, it's alright but somewhat redundant for a damage dealer).

In subterfuge grab just enough point to make your stealth guarentee a critical strike.

In dual-wielding grab Backstab and the Cooldown. Don't touch the guaranteed critical because your crit-chance will be high enough without it. Then work up tp Explosive Strike.

In Scoundrel work up to Follow-through once again

These are your most damaging moves: Vandetta, Backstab, and Explosive Strike. Every now and then you can call out against an enemy attacking a low party member and you will do more damage to them and maybe save your allies life. Always open with a stealth and use Vandetta on the most valuable target for a guarenteed chunk of their health. Your mobility and damage in this build are almost at it's highest in large bursts, but when things are CD you lack slightly in comparison to my first build. But it's always fun to use Vandetta to teleport up to a ledge with enemies firing upon you, kill them, then use Back-to-Back to teleport back.

Post your own, I'd love to hear them!

I guess you won't be able to set up disorient with this build until pretty late in the game?

Edit:  After reexamining the rogue trees, it looks like disorient is just hard to pull off in general for rogues.  Pinning shot doesn't work, and fatiguing fog takes 7 talent points and level 11.  As a shadow you can get disorienting criticals at level 9, assuming you already have a way to become obscured.

I've had this problem with not only the same you mentioned, but also a few of my sure-thing critical abilities. Predator didn't give me all criticals as I had expected it would, and neither did Pinpoint Strikes from Assassination. I was expecting to initiate Pinpoint Strikes and watch the numbers roll off, but sometimes I would notice their healthbar not flashing, and I'm pretty sure they weren't immune to criticals, so I'm wondering if I wasn't paying attention to something else or what-not.

Anyways, my build was going for utility with as much damage through the utility as possible. I think it looks similar to your own raw damage build with some key differences.

I took every point in Shadow and Assassin.

Assassinate (with both upgrades) is one of the most damaging abilities I've seen on all my rogue tests (along with Twin Fangs) and I couldn't pass it up. It deals so much damage to bosses and usually instantly kills most lesser mobs that it's almost too easy once I have this skill and its upgrades.

In Shadow I didn't get any upgrades except for Decoy, because I have no tank and my Decoy tanks very well with the upgrade, as well as a nice bit of bonus damage when it explodes (my cunning is 65, dex is 66, I usually take no damage from most things).

In subterfuge I took Evade (to get to the next tier), stealth, lingering shroud, and ambush as you did. No upgrades.

In scoundrel I took back to back, follow through, and blindside. Follow-Through + Bloodlust meant in large groups I always had enough stamina to spam my activate skills and keep my Decoy up at all times.

In Dual Weapon I took everything except for Lacerate, and I upgraded Explosive Strike and Twin Fangs.

[GLITCH]: Also, no matter how many times I respecced and got rid of Rush (I checked 3 respeccs, it always ends up this way) I always end up getting Rush back for free? I'm not quite sure what's going on there, I purposelly do not put a point into Rush and within an hour I'll check my tree and have it again. I keep wondering if I suddenly lose a point elsewhere or if its just given to me for free? Hmmm...

Anyways, as my Rogue was the tank for my group, and we did not have a healer, a Decoy Tank and having plenty of survivability with that much Cunning for Defense (40% versus bosses) and I believe that dodge applies to Decoys as well, because mine never gets hit (which sadly results in it exploding less) and 241% critical damage with all of this crit meant I was hitting quite hard with normal attacks (not to mention a nice Assassinate or Twin Fangs which do insane amounts of damage).
---
I think the next Rogue build I'm going to do is going to be a sort of support-rogue, with multiple abilities like chameleons breath, fatiguing fog, miasmic flask, and confusion to cause all sorts of upsets against foes while my real damager in that party (I would make my main damage in that party a soft little explosive mage) did their thing.
---
REALLY...
But really, guys, REALLY try a group without a dedicated tank and with a fully upgraded Decoy. It is impressive how much this thing pulls aggro from allies. I've got Aveline tanking in my new group (I'm a mage) and myself and Isabella are always being hunted down, whereas my Rogue's decoy.. not sure what it was, but everything always seemed to be drawn right towards it (well, some ranged things would avoid it and focus others) but mainly it made the game almost too easy, and that was without a tank or healer.

Seriously, ANY boss fight on my rogue, I'd walk into the bosses face, plop a Decoy, and the boss would drop EVERYTHING (even a few times I had Fenris, for testing purposes, learn taunt to see if Decoy was as decent as I thought) and turn towards the Decoy to start attacking it. Yes, Mr. Dragon. All those breath weapons and knockarounds don't seem to be working on the decoy, maybe if you hit it harder?

My rogues build is pretty much what your first build is. Shadow talents plus stealth and assassinate talents is definately the way I like to go. By the end of the game I had points to spare so I ended up taking Unforgiving Chain and Lacerate from the duel weapon tree. I like it because it offers utility and backstab and assassinate pretty much kills most anything. The only thing that I found the build lacks in is big boss damage and survivability when all your talents are on cooldown and you still somehow have something whacking you. It doesn't happen often, but when it does I don't live long.

Pinning shot works well with Sebastian, it just doesn't work with Varric for whatever reason.

As for my rogue I ignored the DW tree, which seems odd, but it works well.  Duelist has its own backstab ability plus some awesome defense buffs.  Rush and flask are great and then getting 100% crits when the enemy is stunned makes for great combos with the flask (and crit damage boosters).  I just unlocked assassin and it seems like there are some great crit boosters in there as well.

I recently discovered a really fun build.
Max out Duelist ONLY up until you have Vandetta and the upgrade that lowers its cooldown. Next max out Shadow with 0 upgrades (at least not yet)

In duel wielding get up to Backstab and lowering its Cooldown as well. In Subterfuge get up to the Guarenteed crit ability and Lingering Shroud. Finally in Scoundrel, get up to Follow-Through. Invisible friend is also a good perk with Blindside.

I literally start the fight with one of my teammates staggering a strong enemy, then I hit Stealth, and use Vandetta for a guaranteed super-crit. After that I'm still in stealth :D and if the target is dead I just backstab the next target for improved crit damage. If the target isn't dead, I just backstab him instead. I turned on to hard just to test it and it 2 shotted people. If people are on a ledge I just Vandetta up to them, beat the ever-loving snot out of them (maybe with bodyguard buff on me) and use Back-to-Back to teleport back down. Easy-peasy. The one and only issue with this spec is that stamina is an issue until you get Follow-through, then there is virtually no complaint. I'm only level 17 just starting act 3 at the moment and I beating everything to a bloody pulp. I'm planning to get invisible friend next for some awesome stealth action, or maybe lacerate for more passive damage that I'm lacking a tiny bit.
