I'm asking this because I'm noticing that the flirt option is appearing with a lot of characters even though I'm playing a male Hawke.  I want to know how each character swings so I can understand how to pursue each individual romance. 

I may have heard wrong but I think Anders may have implied he is gay or at least bisexual and I can't tell about Fenris.  Isabela definetly has to be bisexual and Aveline Merrill and Sebastian seem straight.  

I JUST started act 3 so if there is a companion I have yet to recruit, please do not mention him/her in your list.

All of them are bisexual, save for Sebastian.

Wow, that's really surprising! Totally didn't get that impression from Aveline but then again I am playing a male Hawke. Next playthrough is going to be with a female Hawke for sure.

Err... Don't get your hopes up, Aveline ain't interested.

Aveline's got it bad for a subordinate, not someone who takes charge. lol

Anyway they should include more choices for romance. A pirate, two elves, an apostate who was notably straight when he appeared in Awakening, and a nobleman who you cant even bed isn't much for variety.

You can flirt with Aveline and Varric but they have relationships with NPC chars. YOu can't actually romance them.

Aveline has a quest and Varric is in a dedicated relationship with his crossbow.

I was actually quite fond of Aveline on my first playthrough, shame they never added her as a Romanceable character.

The awkward date quest you get from her made up for her lack of romance options I think. I giggled.
