I don't want to kill Carver in the deep roads, but I don't want to leave him at home either.

I have read that Carver dies in the deep roads or goes away if you leave him at home, so is there any way to avoid both? (this could also be Bethany if you are NOT a mage)

If you bring Andres with you can make him a grey warden.

Does that go anywhere? Does anything happen with that or is it just "oh yeah and he is a grey warden" or is it more involved than that?

Your brother/sister still disapers for awhile after that. They are either dead, a warden, or in the circle/templars

If you make him a grey warden, he will return as a companion for the final battle.

he is leaving no matter what, either permanently if you let him die in the deep roads or you get the chance to see him a couple times and bring him back at the end of the game as a grey warden or templar.
