What's going on?? For some reason the stamina/mana bars keep shrinking, injury kits aren't helping, how do I change this?

you may be using sustained abilities which "reserve" a percentage of your stamina/mana, so you can not use it for other abilities.

Alright, disabled them since I didn't have much use for them, but a part of the mana bar is still missing for Anders.

The HP and Mana/Stamina bars will adjust after the member of the group whose bar is the largest one. For instance if you're running as a mage and only have Warriors and Rogues in the group, their Stamina bars will usually shrink, because you have so much more mana than they have stamina.
Edit: It should also be noted it's showing your HP bar in comparison to your Mana/Stam bar. If you've got more HP than stam/mana, that bar will be bigger.

Make sure there isn't some default tactic causing him to use a sustained spell.

Yeah I have more HP then Mana right now, I'm playing as a Warrior.
